confront it head on

Bombing?

Lets face it though we really aren't going to much about anything in Kenya or Somalia are we. Not strategically or financial important enough.

Or cut ties with countries that fund terrorism. It's common knowledge that Saudi and Qatar are two such countries that sponsor terror.

Now you are delving into the murky waters of US foreign policy.

I think any aggressive action would only further the terrorists recruitment. That seems to be what's happened in the past. I know if i was a young man and saw my brethrens homelands being attacked, i'd be thinking 'pass me a gun'.

I can't think of anything that would help the liberal factions apart from showing solidarity with the 'muslim world'.

No we wont in Kenya, because we dont need to,the Kenyans are strong and capable enough to confront this if they deploy their resources. As far as Somalia is concerned im fairly sure we pay our dues so the UN can operate in the area

Now there's an idea, although i fear the UN would be seen as the west's lapdog.

I wonder if there's any will among the north african muslim nations to provide troops. I guess there would be no will to fund it though. It would be a long haul to produce a democratic country there - would need a new generation educated.

Islam is not going get its house in order while we continue to interfere in areas that give rise to the extremists. I am not sure if the ball is in their court. The rise of extremist is a global problems which needs a global solution. Perhaps a rethink in US/UK/Australian foreign policy would be a good start. Maybe if people started to look at the reasons for the problems then we may find some solutions. When i say we I mean all of us.

I don't really know the answer but what i am certain of is that hunting out the Islam angle of incidents and framing everything as such only serves to marginalise muslims. Driving the wedge further between cultures cannot assist anyone to get their houses in order.

As you say "I don't really know the answer", but you are quick to jump on those that oppose these extremists, you are quick to blame the West even though as pointed out that many of the countries that they are slaughtering in the West have not had any involvement in.
So all the countries where similar demos have gone on, like Italy, Germany, Uk, Canada etc are wrong.
As i said, seems these countries do not have a problem with the other cultures and religions living in these countries.
I suggest it is time for "some" Muslims "to get their houses in order".

So what is the reason for the current extremist problem? You disagree with my theories, so lets hear yours

I think that although Christianity has been less than perfect in previous centuries, it is based on peace, love and forgiveness. Christians were able to live in peace in most parts of the world. Unfortunately now Christians are being persecuted in countries that are predominantly muslim and are now a very tiny minority. By contrast, the muslim religion is growing in countries that were once considered Christian. Christians generally recognise where they have erred in the past. I think muslims need to learn to accept other faiths and not resort to violence,

It is those, and there are more than some, that are causing the "extremist problem".
To follow the extreme views of Islam and trying to impose those views and ideology across the world. By killing and slaughtering many that actually follow the same religion, even in many countries where there is a population of over 90% Muslim. By trying to bring their laws and ways to countries that do not want them. By not integrating and respecting the laws etc of said countries. By using barbaric beheadings, stoning, suicide bombers worldwide and continuously blaming others to deflect what they are doing.
So in short and in answer to your question " the reason for the current extremist problem? You disagree with my theories, so lets hear yours" this is how i feel.
This "extremist problem" and as you like to refer/blame history, actually belongs in the 19th century at best.
Meanwhile the problem is getting worse, aided by the apologists who just point out that those that oppose the extremists views are well..........just pick a phrase and insert.

Christians were able to live in peace in most parts of the world? Sorry but this is historically inaccurate, Humans have been fighting and warring throughout history regardless of their religious beliefs.

The few countries that you describe where christians are in a tiny monority can hardly be held up as a reason for global extremism. Which countries are you talking about btw?

You know those phrases you complain about so often are no different to the default position of calling people apologists.

I can't help but think that if someone behaves in the way that you describe there must be a reason for it.

Hehe. Bless you for trolling, as you well know i don't support them. I've never apologised for them either. Quote me anywhere to show it.

As for the 'pass me a gun' bit. If you were born at the time, and were a young man would you not have signed up to defend our brethren against hitler?

Well i gave you my reasons, seeing as you asked. Whether you agree is another matter. I am not about to apologise for my opinion.
