Brighton
Travis doing Britney's 'hit me baby one more time'

There are a couple of heavy rock covers I like, not sure I'd say they spanked the original, HIM doing Chris Isaac's "wicked game", Disturbed doing a cover of Genesis's "Land of confusion". When I started typing this there was a third...

Mindy Smith did a great cover of Jolene (originally by dolly parton).

Nouvelle Vague - In a Manner of Speaking
Roberta Flack - First Time Ever I Saw Your Face (the original is barely listenable)
Natalie Imbruglia - Torn

The daddy of all cover versions is Saint Etienne - Only Love Can Break Your Heart.

Interesting cover but it hardly spanks the original

In fact I'm gonna put it to an NSC test...in a Poll

Perhaps the only version of a Chuck Berry song better than the original (unless of course, you know better), mainly thanks to the accordion.

I'm a Neil Young fan too but that Saint Etienne version is sublime. It could possibly be my favourite track from (possibly) my favourite album ever. The Andrew Weatherall remix of the Saint Etienne version sends me into raptures.
