Remember ..the Lyons Corner House on the corner of St James St.

Remember it? I worked there as a Saturday and holiday job. My first wage packet for a 42-hour week was £8.90 ....those were the days (sigh).

I must say that the Taj that's there now is rather neat.

I'd forgotten about that ... right next to Pool Valley ... really scary for a small kid ... when was that? Must have been the 50s?
I thought Louis Tussauds was there until the 60's at least.

Really. What's his name? I worked there from 1972 until 1975 (hopes it wasn't the bloke that I got into a fight with - can't remember his name but it was a strange end to the shift).

I wasn't born until 1965, so it must have been there well into the 70's

I remember it too and I am younger than you Pasty, so reckon late seventies. I have a recollection of being very disappointed at the inside of louis Tussauds, but can't quite remember any details.

Must have been around a good long time as I'm sure I remember it being there in the mid fifties.

Definitely there in the late 50's and sure it was still around whenI left in the early 70's. Had all the rejects and hand me down's from madame tussauds in london. very disappointing and purely there to rip off day visitors with nothing to do on a rainy day....bit like the whole sea front really:lolol:

Also Petulengro's - the clairvoiyant - at the entrance to the Palace Pier.......either she said the same things to everyone or she could remember you a year later and repeat what she said last time

Can anyone remember the name of the silhouttist who used to have a place on the front? We had silhouettes of the family framed on the wall at home for years.

My grandad ran a miniature bus and coach ride on Peter Pan's playground for years in the fifities and sixties Sad to see the state that place was in last time I walked along the parade

Does anyone remember the tram that went along Queens Park Road? Them were the days. Oh and we couldn't go down to the beach for six years between 1939 and 1945, oh how I missed that.

I understand you live in Coldean? That's where me & my lot come from.

Not sure when he worked there, could have been before your time.

I do indeed (in ex-Sussex cricketer Keith Greenfield's old house) but I'm from Moulsecoomb originally

Ah, the Dolphinarium. Imagine the protests if they kept dolphins there now.

And I still recall with affection the day, aged about nine, I went to Pirates' Deep for some party or other, only to be hauled out in disgrace after I got into an argument with my brother and twatted him in the ball pool.

So to speak :lolol:
