I thought Titanic was a very good film but then I am quite odd sometimes.

Kate Winslett giving the one-fingered salute, 3rd class passengers/Irish tinkers being locked in the lower decks by the bastard English while the ship was sinking - could it be more historically inaccurate?

You mean Crash, the worst Oscar winner of all time? Kids movies like The Lord of the Rings? Negative rep duly added.

Jebus, It was a question and my opinion not law or a statement, I am not childish enough to bother with giving you a bad mark, However you have been duly added to my fantasy film buff list in the childrens and roleplay section.

The key to making big $ is to appeal to women. They are more likely to be repeat viwers to films. They also are the more influential in what children will see at the movies.

I keep using iplayer to watch some good or interesting films. Something relaxing, i find, to bung on a film early morning with the headphones on so that no one can interfere. At present, i see they're showing The Fugitive, and not the Harrison Ford one-armed-man murder adventure. 1947 with Henry Fonda and directed by John Ford. Might be worth a watch even if it ain't brilliant.

The title of this thread could have been "Films that have been marketed brilliantly but the world would be be no poorer and in some cases better off without them."

In the first list I have seen 7 out of the 10 and in the second list 9 out of the 10. The only one I have not seen in the second list was Doctor Zhivago.

I was surprised Titanic has held up so well and gives some indication how many people went to see the film compared to those viewing figures today.

I feel that many of the films in the first list over a billion $ will not get into the top 100 films of all time viewing figures, i.e. bums on seats.

It would be interesting to see the audience figures rather than the takings. Does anyone have this information?
