Do you have to actually use the Amex card to pay now? I just use to show the Amex card so they put it through and then tap my debit card.
Which is probably why they changed it, if loads of people were doing the same. Didn’t even cross my mind to do what you do, I am a simple soul obviously

They were advertising the new scheme around the kiosks last night, too. And this morning I got an "acknowledgement" from Amex that I'd spent (on a pie). So hopefully money back soon, as well.

Seems like £50 limit in cash back for the season. But then, I'd have to spend £500 to get that much back. I guess those with larger families might do that.

I’d even heard of some showing a screenshot of someone else’s Amex card on their phone to get the discount then paying with a different card.

In addition to screenshots of relevant cards, some folk were simply getting the same person to buy each round on Amex, and transfer the cash over apparently/allegedly.
This will put a stop to all such shenanigans.

It was a 10% discount applied at the till, now you gave to actually use your card and the discount is applied as cashback to your account
Ok, if you "borrow" an Amex card (which can be obtained free of charge!) then I can see the benefit but @Commander insinuated he was using his own Amex card for the discount and then paying the balance on another card.

I have an Amex card and get Avios (formerly AirMiles) for each and every English Pound I spend.

Unfortunately didn’t see this til at the ground yesterday. Couldn’t remember my Amex log in details. Why not use a game to advertise this change? Something like you’ll have to log in next time sir etc? Just the usual cheesepairing behaviour we’ve come to expect from Brighton

(Just the 4 advertising redirects typing this post - not the only cheesepairing behaviour over small amounts of revenue then)

Yes, that worked up until recently as you’d still get the discount. Now you have to pay using the Amex card.

The Avios is irrelevant to the BHA transaction - you’ll still get them if you use Amex.

Please forgive my ignorance but what difference (advantage?) does this give to the buyer?

No advantage but I did it occasionally as made finances easier to manage and saved having to remember I owed money on the Amex card. Personally hate using credit and avoid it if I can (mortgage is obviously an exception!).

Surely that will still work as it’s up to £50 a transaction isn’t it? Unless they are BiG rounds!

Just checked my Amex account and the 10% discount is showing as a refund
Where does it show that?

I ordered my first pint on Friday and then saw the advert so I paid with my debit card but loaded the offer on my Amex (and I can see it there in the app) there and then. The pint I bought afterwards is still showing as £7 but I can't see a 70p refund anywhere.

Thanks for the heads up, just applied the deal.
Previously I'd have to remember to show my card and the staff in the ESU would often pretend they didn't know what the offer was so rarely got applied.

They are shown as credits on the recent transactions on the Amex ap. 22p back from my extortionate £2.20 Yorkie. A pricy Friday treat!

My first pint credit also shows despite me paying for it before I'd agreed the offer on the ap too (just like the lady behind the counter said it would)

Thanks. Still not showing for me. Have contacted their support and they were very helpful actually. They are saying the offer didn't trigger for me because the merchant used a POS machine that wasn't configured for the offer. So anyone who bought anything from the right hand bar (as you look at the pitch) in MWB should probably check. Colour me shocked this is a Sudexo issue.

£2.20 for a chocolate bar.....yikes! Haven't had a Yorkie in years though.....quite fancy one now!
