the only reason Gus is being linked to these jobs is because he was a big name player, hes so far achieved nothing as a manager other than 13th in league 1, no prem club would gamble on that, maybe a championship club would but cant see Gus leaving us because hes hoping to be a championship manager with us in next season or two.

One of whom the vast majority on here were hoping was going to be connected with this club last year. Has he suddenly become a nob?

Nope, he was already one. Can anyone truely say they would want them in charge!? They conduct any fears through the media or match programme and completely undermined Zola during a relegation battle.

They complained non stop about funds and wages, even announcing Zola will have a pay cut before Zola even seemed to know, and THEN sanctioned deadline day purchases of a fat Egyptian(mido), a broken has been(benny) and ILAN(exactly).

They think they are revolutionary by saying people like kieron dyer are on too much money, yet I'm sure anyone can figure out that a player who has played about 20 times in 3 years on astronomical wage probably wasn't the greatest investment ever.

I can just about stomach David gold but two owners is never a sensible route, ie hicks and gillet

You have the right county but he lives near Orpington or at least he did 6 months ago.

I am not concerned about this rumour in the slightest.

West Ham will go for a far more experienced manager that Gus.

I cant see him considering the Pompey job either, what with there precarious financial position, and the fact that Falmer is only a season away for us.

I dont think Poyet would go for it, but if they approached him maybe he wont be able to resist but you would hope he would stick with us after what he said about Calderon turning down Southampton after what club done for him, like we have for Poyet giving him a chance.

There's no way they'll want him anyway but he would definitely go if offered.

West Ham are a bigger club now than we could ever hope to become, especially not in Poyet's LIFETIME. What possible benefit could there be in staying?

Is quite a lot of reasons why poyet would if offered the job be a good idea if he turned it down,
1 didnt work out for his mate Zola who was also a top class player and had experience at under 21 level managing Italy,
2 - he is loved by our club and Chairman and would give him time to make errors - as expect a new manager to game to do occassionly and to build his team
3 - we moving into nice new stadium where who knows what our future will be
4 - West Ham have known to be a selling club and trigger happy on the management front
But a reason he may want to go is back to london and a top premiership team but he is a clever guy and knows that not ready for it, yet, but he will be, i dont believe west ham are massively bigger than us, we just had a bad last 10 years or so now is time to start making brighton football club as good as a reputation and popularity as brighton the city is.

I cannot believe all these negative posts. There is no reason why with a a new ground and a decent manager and chairmen why we shouldnt reach the Premiership. We reached the equivalent with Mullery and Bamber so why not again with Poyet and Bloom.

We have the added bonus of decent ground which we didnt have in 79.

As many times as Poyet says he doesnt want to leave, these rumours are going to continue until at least he signs a new contract

The rumours will not stop if Poyet signs a new contract. If a Premiership or half-decent Championship club comes in for him and really wants him, they will pay whatever compensation is necessary.

We will all just have to get used to the speculation all the time Poyet is successful with us.

Gus Poyet is an unproven manager who will not be walking into a Premier League or even a top half of the Championship club job. What planet do some people live on?

Correct. Every time a vacancy occurs in the top 2 divs the bookies will make a market. In order to generate as much business as possible they will have at least 10 or 12 candidates. The usual out-of-work suspects such as Hughes, Curbishley, Megson, Grant (soon to be) and Robson together with some younger rising stars such as Keane, DeSousa, Ferguson and now Poyet will feature on many lists. That doesn't mean they're going there. The time to be worried is when they're put in at around evens or lower. Even then it's no guarantee - just look at the money lost on Coppell a few months back.

It's going to be a long summer even if Gus signs a 10-year contract.
