Did you award bonus points to smart arses who knew that Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was written in the (then called) Dudley Hotel in Hove (now boarded up sadly)?
Right on both counts. Paul Emblen scored a hattrick.

My dad, who supported Charlton before moving to Brighton in the late 50s, never used to tire of telling me how Charlton, down to 10 men and losing 5-1 to Huddersfield with half an hour left turned the game round with 5 goals to lead 6-5. Huddersfield then equalised, but Charlton got a late...
Jabberwocky - Not always a fan of Gilliam, but I do love this effort.
Top Secret. - If only for the "An*l Intruder".
I haven't seen either for years mind, so maybe watching them again now might be an underwhelming experience, but I used to absolutely love them.
Interesting stuff. Is there anywhere that ranks keepers by expected saves?
Of course, as others have alluded to, there are other aspects of a keepers role which are harder to capture in a model. E.g. distribution, intercepting through balls, etc. A keeper who has a high save percentage could...
I think we are likely to see similar things happen in the next few years at other well established premier league clubs.
There are plenty of ambitious clubs in the Championship with wealthy backers (E.g. Wolves and Bristol City). If and when they make it to the Premier League the way the TV...
Yes, that's my recollection. We got a points deduction for the York City abandonment, but it was suspended and a subsequent on the pitch protest the following season triggered the suspended deduction to be implemented. I could be remembering this wrong.
I cannot see any points being deducted...
I've certainly wondered if that would be a good idea too, and come to pretty much the same conclusions. I think it would have to be completely segregated to work, i.e. not just coloured tarmac. Then you have the circular argument about there not being enough cyclists to justify the investment.
I think this thread has been generally well received and encouraged some thoughtful debate, but of course, there are a lot of entrenched negative opinions when it comes to cycling and some of that has (inevitably) surfaced too. 1,000 seems like an ambitious but achievable figure over a few...
Well yes, facilities certainly, but I suspect it would take something more to boost numbers to the 1000 mark. What exactly, I'm not sure, but some supporters would need a push to try cycling out, e.g. some sort of campaign in conjunction with Albion the Community. FWIW I don't actually cycle...
I think we are a long, long, long way from having so many supporters cycling that it causes congestion headaches. 150-200 per match is pretty poor IMO. 1000 would be an ambitious, but achievable total that could easily be accommodated on existing cycle paths. Obviously more bike stands would be...
The scheme seems to be expanding quite rapidly so I suspect this will happen in due course. Seems silly that it's sponsored by Amex but there are no docking stations at the Amex.
So around 150-200 per match I guess. There must be others who cycle to a station and get the train, but the survey does not seem to capture those.
Given the club has a financial incentive to increase the numbers cycling rather than taking the bus or train, I wonder what they could do to achieve it?
Fair point I guess, but IMO his involvement is a rumour that has most likely arisen because he's friendly with the owner and has been known to eat there a lot which has led people to jump to conclusions.
Good point. I think all costs are actually deducted before the money is split so my example was simplistic, but it all goes to show what tiny margins the club has for this match. Even so I think opening the WSU is the right decision.
