[Albion] Matt Clarke- Portsmouth defender **SIGNED and LOANED to DERBY**

https://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/17664652.albion-interested-in-portsmouths-matt-clarke/ Confirmation from the Argus that Clarke is on our radar - also, that Newcastle Midfielder Isaac Hayden remains of interest, though not our first choice for midfield strengthening.

[Albion] Article - Football Changed and Chris Hughton Didn’t Keep Up

Great piece. I think you’ve captured the feeling of unease, almost as though you were betraying your king, that many including myself felt when Hughton was beginning to show real signs of falling apart. Your observations surrounding the vast changes in football over such a short period also ring...

[Albion] The day Hughton won back the fans...but lost the backing of Bloom

Still undecided...I’ve been offered the Freedom of Swansea as part of my contract if I stay - I’m holding out for them to remove that clause.

[Albion] The day Hughton won back the fans...but lost the backing of Bloom

Ha! I wish, would be an absolute dream job. Definitely happy to do more of these if people are interested, and indeed, hopefully next year I'm able to write up a piece on how we stunned Man City at the Etihad, or dominated Palace in our 0-4 win at Selhurst :albion2:

[Albion] The day Hughton won back the fans...but lost the backing of Bloom

All correct. My allusion to ‘winning the fans back’ was based on the general feeling of relief, that we had secured a huge point, stopped the slide and all but secured survival. My impression was that a lot of people’s desire for Hughton to go was results-based, it looked for a long time that we...

[Albion] The day Hughton won back the fans...but lost the backing of Bloom

It’s possible - I think Pröpper definitely has the ability, we’d have to see it happen to know if can return the numbers we need. The importance of Groß probably shouldn’t be understated, he got a very impressive amount of assists+goals in his first season. Bissouma: I think one of his main...

[Albion] The day Hughton won back the fans...but lost the backing of Bloom

I don’t really disagree with what you’ve said. My observation has been that without Groß, we’ve been unable to play with an originally favoured 4-4-1-1. (Interestingly however, Hughton began playing 4-3-3 with Groß as one of the midfield 3) The sideways and backwards you allude to is symptomatic...

[Albion] The day Hughton won back the fans...but lost the backing of Bloom

Thank you - and I completely echo what you say re Izquierdo, in this game and in others, he has not been at effective at all. He simply didn’t pose enough of a threat to cause Newcastle any problems at all, so the issues we faced down the right with Groß also applied to our left side too. I’ve...

[Albion] The day Hughton won back the fans...but lost the backing of Bloom

I’ve written an opinion piece/ tactical breakdown of the Newcastle game -discussing Hughton’s dismissal and why in Bloom’s eyes he was no longer the man to carry us forward. You can find the whole thing HERE...

Great article. Very astute and interesting observations about the wider implications of Hughton's dismissal.

[Albion] Can we agree on one thing?

Agreed. Significantly, there's not just a managerial change occurring - there will be adjustments to our recruitment strategy and subsequent personnel change, changes in our opposition, and changes in expectation.
