Are we turning into a nation of snides ?
Reminds me of this YouTube channel - CyclingMikey at "Gandalf Corner", which I do find strangely addictive for the confrontation. I'm on his side - the drivers should obviously NOT be skipping to the wrong side of the road to bypass a...
Fair enough
I didn't appreciate the concept of a footballing debt (ie an entire transfer fee) still being considered an asset on a balance sheet even if its been set over several years, but nwgull and yourself have clarified it well. Still seems odd that cash not coming in until...
I wouldn't OVERLY disparage being the only person in the entire office. It can actually be quite therapeutic.
We're supposed to be in 3 days out of 5 (Mon, Tue, Thu). I kicked up a grizzle and managed to get Thursday binned off, so I'm only in Mondays and Tuesdays now. Anyway, one day last...
I shall bow to your superior knowledge then. I would have assumed that the entire transfer fee that was agreed does not appear in our coffers until the *actual* money does. But I am not an accountant.
Not really. I seriously doubt Will Smith would agree to that, and enjoy riding out the current fallout that basically ruined what should've been his greatest night as an actor.
As Smith approached, Rock was clearly still in the mock "uh-ohh, here comes papa" moment. He sure didn't believe or...

Transfer fees are usually paid in instalments
Any club wanting to invest huge amounts in a superstar...
Football isn't like any other business though, as we well know.
I'd assume its simple enough to find out though. We sold Mooy for £4m to some chinese mob in 2020. Did that £4m appear in full in our accounts that following financial year ?
I wish there was someone we knew who could clarify all...
Well I've got no inside track any more than anyone else, so who knows. But that would lend weight to the length of time the negotiations took - precisely because its not standard practice for clubs to stump up the entire fee up-front, so the "spread" of the payment of the transfer fee was...
No, I'm aware of amortisation and the difference.
I'd been under the (mistaken) assumption for a long time that transfers fees are paid in full, up front. They are not.
This is why, when a club goes into administration, you often see a lot of "football debts" owed to other football clubs...
Usually the fee is paid out over the course of the contract. He signed for them for 5 years, so presumably we'll be trousering £10m/year from them.
I'd assume this kind of deal does NOT apply to CPFC2010 though. It would be foolish in the extreme not to get as much of the transfer fee...
Kind of sad that all it takes is a silly little spat like this to knock the invasion of Ukraine off the top of all the 'most read stories' on the news sites innit.
Putin and Zelensky are going to have to up their game.
Agreed. Smith has made himself look like a right prat. Rock comes out looking the "bigger man" by not making more of it, or looking to press charges and/or sue him - which in the most litigious nation on the planet, is quite something.
Can you imagine how one of our footballers would have...
My dad was suffering with it for months and months in his leg, at times he was in absolute agony and could barely sleep. This was about a year, 18 months ago. The doctors couldn't do much about it other than prescribe a few painkillers and tell him to "rest", but despite that and various heated...
As an aside, I heard this story on the drive in to work this morning, but was only half-listening. I thought Smith had slapped THE Rock. "Bloody hell, now THAT was ballsy", I thought to myself.
Imagine my disappointment when I saw it.
This really does have "disappointing 1-1" written all over it.
Thankfully I'll be at MKD v Shrewsbury, hopefully seeing Elliot Bennett continue to lead the charge.
I never realise how many clocks I have in the house till I have to faff around changing them. Alarm clock, cooker, microwave, bathroom, kitchen wall clock, lounge wall clock, digital clock in the TV unit, garden clock, my watch...
