Squad rotation. Norwich have good wingers so he won't play every game. Also, less games in the Premier League anyway.
We're not going to resign him so it's irrelevant but I find it hard to believe anyone wouldn't be delighted if, by some miracle, he came back.
There's no way we will pay £4 million for Baldock. Bristol City fans can talk about how he wants to stay and they don't need to sell all they want but the fact is, with a year left on his contract, the power is in Baldock's hands. If he wants to stay, he will sign a new contract. If he wants to...
I think that O'Grady is the target man. The player who plays in the middle of the front three will be a goalscorer and more mobile with O'Grady offering something different if we're behind late on. All depends on who we can get though.
I agree. I think he's a victim of initial over hype so now he's not a £20 million player already, he's not good enough. What the play offs and the under 21s showed is that in a midfield three, he needs to be at the front of the three, not one of the more defensive players.
Out of interest, where did you hear that? Must have been a really serious injury for him to be that far away from returning to training still. Hopefully we do have enough options to cover now and we won't end up like we did in the play offs last season.
Absolutely. I realise we can't always get the players we need but I doubt we're going to spend £1.5 to £2 million on a player when we already have the position covered. I'm sure he's part of a plan.
I think Stephens was beginning to look really good when he got injured last season. Hopefully he...
I think the key thing is defence splitting pass. I wouldn't say either Crofts or Stephens do that, they're both more old fashioned box to box midfielders. I imagine, when everyone's fit, we'll have Nzuzi/Ince as defensive midfield, Crofts/Stephens as the box to box midfielder and...
Interesting. Sounds like we'll be playing a three man midfield so that's a positive.
We need someone who has a defence splitting pass so that will be great. We have Crofts and Stephens who can be more box to box. He's only young still, at 25, so hopefully things like being lazy at times and...
I think he can play either defensive or more attacking midfield. If he scored his 7 goals last year from a defensive midfield position, it suggests he could score more from further forward.
I agree Mellis looked really good at the Amex but Barnsley fans don't seem to rate him. Sounds like he...
Yes, I never assume until it's announced but it feels a similar situation to Stockdale this time last week and we signed him on Monday. Let's hope for the same outcome.
It has almost been announced like that on Sky Sports. They pretty much said it was a done deal.
It is very unusual for a club to officially announce they're signing a player until after the medical.
Are you serious about Hughes? He's just signed a long term deal to stave off interest from Premier League clubs. The bidding will start at £10 million plus when he does leave.
I've wondered about the same thing but assume they want him more as the Orlandi replacement to create chances. Would be odd for us to spend this much on a player when we have Stephens/Crofts already unless we're selling them both.
