Then perhaps we need to be smarter with our movement, in losing the markers and / or getting across the defender and finding that bit of space (and of course the deliverer hitting it).
Its got to the stage now where I get quite annoyed when I see other teams on telly plant in a header from a...
We have scored 4 headed goals this season. Off the top of my head (HAH!) I can think of the two Mitoma ones vs Wolves and Muff, both of which were from open play, as was Fergusons at Leicester. Can't think of the other one.
This is just below average. Spurs lead the way with 13 headers, then...
Considering the average difference between bottom and top is 0.04 of a meter, I don't think this can be counted as much of a factor in our miserable goal return from set pieces.
Despite what we see happening on the pitch, the team obviously do work on it in the week, but maybe not enough ...
True, but that was down to the collective Potter-esque failure of our lot to stick the ball in the big white thing, having dominated from start to finish.
I'm not overly concerned at the idea of Lamptey getting "exposed" by anyone at Stoke tbh. If we concede due to that particular scenario...
Well, thats a different conversation isn't it. You don't get to the top 6 with an overly leaky defence, so I'm confident we're far from the worst defensively in this area. The point of the thread is that considering how good we are overall, its genuinely startling how appalling we are at scoring...
This is exactly what I and many others called for in the aftermath of the Fulham debacle. Players are now widely and openly abusing the head injury protocol, using it as a tactic and it is literally ruining games as a spectacle (which is of course the precise objective).
This needs to get...
You rightly state that slowing the game down has been part and parcel for years, and BHA have been as guilty of it at times than any other. Dawdling with throw-ins, goal kicks, subs etc.
However.
If BHA were going down feigning head injuries throughout the match in order to slow it down and...
Saw this interview with Trippier over the weekend:
https://www.theguardian.com/football/2023/feb/25/kieran-trippier-if-you-want-to-be-successful-you-have-to-be-cute-well-do-everything-we-can-to-win
Kieran Trippier’s eyes light up and a little smile plays around the corners of his mouth...
We get on average 6.23 corners per game.
Only Liverpool, Man City and Newcastle have had more this season.
https://www.soccerstats.com/table.asp?league=england&tid=cr
So despite getting more corners per game than 16 other clubs, we are 20th in scoring from them. I accept free kicks don't come...
Yeah I know. I'm far from his biggest fan, and was not particularly impressed at how he allowed Simon Jordan to bully him off talkSPORT.
But he does (occasionally) make a salient point, so I don't by default ignore everything he says.
The sacking of TT did indeed seem bizarre in its timing. HOWEVER. The whisper I heard from a Chelsea-supporting work colleague was that Tuchel was playing "hide the sausage" with some other bint. No big deal professionally you'd think, except he was (apparently) constantly on his phone messaging...
The two you mention would, I'd expect, be chipping in with at least 4 goals a season between them. Dunk certainly has done in the past, I can even recall him being (slightly embarrassingly) our top scorer for long spells of the season.
I think we should expect a LOT more from them when it comes...
