The Olympics,i could only happen in the UK.

If the money was spent on education, we wouldn't be believing such nonsense, of course.

The Olympics,i could only happen in the UK.

A huge amount of effort is put into keeping taxes down. If we really cared that much about spending more money on education and health care, we'd be pressing the government to put taxes UP.

    It's the DEAN show again

Until Hinkley Point gets built, there's not enough power in the National Grid to deliver the excitement of this fixture to everyone in the world that wants to see it.

He ***** as highly as anybody in Wome!

Be careful on the number 64 bus. It goes to the Vatican and is much favoured by the pickpocketing community. Report any thefts to the police office at the main railway station. They won't be able to restore your property to you, but they will give you the form you'll need to send to your...

Newcastle getting PUMPED up for NEXT week

We've won the last three games we played against them. And not lost in the last six. Is there any reason we need to be worried about this one?

    Thoughts on temporary travel arrangements

The tunnel closure meant a diversion via South Street. I reckon that added about fifteen seconds to my journey home.

Which unknown Support Act did you see who later went on to become famous

I know someone who went to see Roy Orbison topping the bill back in 1963. The support act was The Beatles.

    Ten Years Ago Today ...

... I contested a by-election for the Seagulls Party in the Ringmer and Ouse Valley ward of Lewes District Council. We lost the by-election, but we won the argument.

Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, on Test Match Special

Actually ... yes. There was a big wedding the other day which was celebrated by the whole village with barely a thought given to the ethnicity of the bride who had lived in the village ever since she was born. And hers isn't the only family.

Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, on Test Match Special

Did you listen to the interview? Most of the half hour was spent with him talking about cricket, including his experience as a Club cricketer in South London and the trial that he had for Surrey. He has a wide range of cricketing heroes who influenced his playing style, most notably Ian Botham.

Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, on Test Match Special

Yes. Although he did say that he and his brother once deviated for a short time from their original loyalty to England, as a result of being on the receiving end of racial abuse at the Oval. He's now very much back in the England camp, though.
