A daughter badly suffers from mitochondrial disease and her husband is asthmatic. Added to that I am over 60 with heart disease. I therefore do have real concerns but am trying not to worry too much because life does need to go on and we need to make what we can of it. However it does rather...
Yes I think the supporters would be largely understanding and supportive for a season in the Championship but they would be expecting home wins and a comfortable top 6 position. Anything less and there would likely be meltdown.
Unfortunately I do not see that we have been dominating most games, certainly not since the turn of the year. We have played Chelsea H, Sheff Wed H, Everton A, Villa H, Bournemouth A, West Ham A, Watford H, Sheff Utd A, Palace H. Whilst we have had decent spells in games I reckon in those 9...
Yes I think the issue is if Arsenal and Man Utd turn up on the day and play well, we will get nothing. We are reliant on them having a bad day to be even competitive.
Yes happy birthday Alex. One of my schoolboy heroes. From what I recall he had one really great season when playing for us and scored with a superb flying header v Crewe. I am not sure he would have suited VAR.
We need a result much more than they do and hopefully we can upset the odds and scrape a draw. We will get nothing from them though unless we are disciplined (this is not West Ham we are playing). Try and keep it tight and safe for an hour and then go for it. Curtains if they lead.
Oh yes, I am on the pessimistic side too. We have the really top teams at home though I and expect a goal or two, like if they score 3 we get 1 in consolation. I, like you, am not expecting too many points.
Playing out from the back needs to be an option rather than a routine. If it is routine it will be countered and overturned. There is still a place for strong defenders, if a team does not have them it will concede too much from crosses and set plays.
At the end of the day a manager/head coach...
He may well have the right idea. Get your retaliation in first, given the lifespan of managers/head coaches. Ok he will not be getting hefty pay outs but at least the club hiring will realise there will be no heavy compensation to pay. He did well for us given the quality of the squad he had.
As a generality I see the squad as much too large for the Championship and the fall off in revenue. Thus I would expect that we would want a good few to go and some actual recruitment up front. For example we would not need Walton and Ryan so Ryan would likely be encouraged on his way. I...
There is too much CH v GP. CH had his time with us and it worked very well until the end. Somebody had to come in and TB chose GP who has done all that could reasonably be expected so far. He needs to get the squad together now and bring some results to keep us up. Watford is a big game.
