I'm afraid it was quite pants.
It was low in the sky (about 10 degrees) and was only faintly visible for about 15 secs at the most.
Thats the problem with these foriegn satellites. What we need is a TRIED & TESTED english satellite to provide better viewing
tbh, probably not worth the frost bite
That Spy Satellite that is due to crash next month will be viewable from Brighton tonight at 18:54:29
It starts in the south and only last about 35secs. It'll be quite low in the sky.
Of course, next month we might be treated to a much closer encounter.
Apologies in advance if this turns out...
Nice one! In touching distance of the 1:30 mark....
I started way too fast and paid for it at the end. When i got to the bottom of the marina slope, just when I wanted a last 10min effort - I had absolutley nothing left.
If the link below works, it gives the story of my run. You can see...
I'm doing it. looking to improve upon my 1:43 last year. I stopped three (yes, three!) times for a piss last year so if I can control my bladder, I might sneak under 1:40.
I might just piss myself and save some time that way.
Weather looks ok, quite cold and not too windy
18th Feb 18:56:56 but will only be visible for about 30secs but should be better on the 19th at 18:50:09.
All weather permitting of course. They'll be lower in the sky than the ISS has been
Its the one that doesn't flash.
It'll look like a bright star moving quite fast across the sky from, roughly, west to east.
Planes flash because they've got lights, the ISS & Shuttle doesn't because its lit up from the sun shining on it.
There is the other matter of an additional planning application for Falmer before work can start - nothing dramatic, just a tidying up excercise but certainly worth keeping in mind.
It was visible over Bristol at virtually the same time - theres really not that much in it. It goes over Bristol again tonight at 19:36:57 so you may see it providing it hasn't got too dark by then.
It goes over Brighton again tonight at 19:37:29.
Last night the second pass was visible but...
I believe the club were expecting Brighton University to start dismantelling their buildings currently on the development site last week. These all need to be cleared before anything else can start.
If this has indeed happened then, technically, work (albeit loosley connected) has begun.
Maybe...
