I was there in South Stand ( and for Dave Bedford too). I seem to remember them being greeted with a chant of 'Who the f*** are you' from the North Stand when they came onto the pitch.
I was also there for Norman Wisdom performing his rendition of GOSBTS, cartwheeling around the centre circle.
I was in the home end too. Staying with friends in Darlington, they got us the match tickets. I am not very demonstrative at the best of times so it was fairly easy to keep a low profile. What amazed me though was the intensity of the home supporters. Last game of the season, losing 3-0, and...
9th September 1961, a 3-2 win at Charlton. 2 goals from Laverick and 1 from Nicholas. I was 14 and entrusted to the care of an older cousin who was on holiday from Scotland. He was a football nut then, and still is today. My main remembrance of the game is our left back (David Smith) virtually...
HT 1-1. Our goal great volley from Mullins following a decent cross from (I think) Barrington on the right. Valencia looking dangerous on their occasional breaks, otherwise mostly containing our possession game. They upped their game after their goal.
For those interested, the club have finally realised there is a game due on Wednesday, and tickets put on sale this morning. Still does not appear on U21 fixture list though!
Thanks for that AZ. I note that the Celtic game due on 24th November doesn't appear on our fixture list either, although the remaining games v Lyon and Dinamo Zagreb do. What is going on?
According to PL2 Int cup website we should be playing Valencia next Wednesday (4th October) with a 7.30 k.o. There is no mention of this on clubs fixture list, and neither are any tickets on sale. Does anyone know if the match is taking place, and if so, is it behind closed doors? The lack of...
After all the foregoing doom and gloom, how about a nice positive transport story. I left my seat in WSL on the final whistle (I am right by a vomitory) and quickly left the stadium. Got straight on to an EDF bus (no queue) which quickly filled and left car park at 4.05. No traffic to contend...
We were much more progressive in second half although couldn't score until the very end. B-B did hit the post though. Final ball in often wayward. A lot more composure required.
In the absence of a thread I am reporting that we are losing 1-0 at HT. Geordies seem more up for it than us. Our passing not up to usual standard and we are being pressed at pace. Cahill has made several good saves to keep score down. We have only had a few breakaway attempts which have so far...
Reading through this thread it seems as if half of NSC has suffered at one time or another. As have I. Have been on Alopurinol for a number of years now, which has kept it at bay, after initially taking Colchicine. When I had my first major attack, it felt as if I had a broken ankle and had to...
I always try and wear something blue/ blue & white - trousers, shirt socks, cap, but I have never worn a club shirt (apart from the one in my avatar when I was 9. Ordinary white shirt with blue stripes printed on from Wisden's in Duke Street THE Brighton sports emporium of the day).
Nobody seems to have asked Ferguson himself what he thinks. He opted for us rather than Liverpool when he first signed as he could see better development opportunities. I can't see him changing that philosophy just yet while he is still learning, so I expect him to be with us for 2 or 3 more...
