Don't remember the Dunk one but Duffy one was right in front of us and it looked a very clear penalty given the new rule. Anyway it didn't matter in the end.
I really rated Poyet when he was here but the way he behaved at the end has slightly affected the memory of him for me. Hughton is so respectful to other managers and referees. He is just a class above Poyet in that sense.
I don't see Hughton going anywhere this season. If we don't go up this time, I wouldn't rule out him leaving the club (which would be gutting) as it will need a rebuilding job with a number of players leaving but he won't be going anywhere this season. It is vital we go up this season for so...
But the game is 90 minutes. We scored twice and had one off the line. In the first half Knockaert might have done better with a shot early on (which was a threat) and it looked like we could have had a penalty with their player hauling down Duffy in the area (although I've not seen a replay)...
Stockdale 7 - Nothing he could do about the goal. Good save at 1-0 and decent off his line
Bruno 6 - Not his best game but still did okay
Dunk 8 - Solid at the back and didn't give Birmingham many chances
Duffy 7 - Same as Dunk but one point less for his involvement in their goal. Almost scored...
If we have as many weaknesses as above, we wouldn't be second. A couple of players had off games yesterday but to call them weaknesses is extremely harsh.
Not sure Birmingham deserved to win. You could put an argument for a draw but I think we deserved to win as Stockdale only made one real save and we battered them after the goal. They hardly got out of their half. I honestly think we deserved to win in the end despite being poor for 75/80...
I agree but we do have other options on the wing and we need to not push him too much too early. As I said originally, I would start him in one of the two home games and see how he does. It may be that impact sub might be the best for him at the moment but, if so, what an impact sub to have!
I...
What they missed with that, probably because they didn't know it, is the injuries we had this time last year (Calde playing at left back, only two wide options etc) and the fact our bad run had already started. At this stage we were already three games into our seven game run without a win...
March was brilliant yesterday. Looked like his pre injury form although it was just 30 minutes so no guarantees he would have as much impact from the start. However, I think I'd give him a start in one of the two home games over Christmas and see how he does. If he does well, then start him at...
Yes, although I think that was part way through the celebration we realised there. It would have been easy to get caught up in the celebration for both goals.
I was thinking yesterday that it seemed to be between him and Sherwood when he got the job. How glad are we that Bloom got it right? I wonder where we'd be now if Sherwood had got the job (although I doubt he would still be here).
Yes, it was very sensible from Norwood. Saw everyone else running into their half and realised that could leave us in trouble. Fair play to him as I'm sure he would have wanted to celebrate with the team.
Depends how you look at it. However nice Zola is, I think the week they've had will have had an impact on Birmingham players. Rowett going along with his whole backroom staff will have impacted their preparation and Zola's style is very different to Rowett's. So, Zola is left with a choice to...
Exactly. And 37 from the last 15 games. An amazing run.
It is easy to take this team for granted but the stat I noticed last night was it is now 7 defeats in the last 67 games (with exactly two points a game in that time). That is an amazing run of form over nearly a season and a half.
Agreed. But in some ways we're better off playing teams higher up the table as we can catch them on the break when they attack. There's been a few teams this season (Cardiff and Ipswich being obvious examples) who have played like the away team when at home to us and sat back and we've not been...
If you look at the squad they have, they should be where we and Newcastle are at least. Their forward options are ridiculous (McCormack hardly seems to start). But there do seem to be a lot of egos there and Bruce may be beginning to find that out after the initial move up the table.
He won't...
Yes, many will disagree because it is wrong. But of course he plays no part in our clean sheets and is always to blame for goals. This is why some of us get annoyed with the anti Stockdale agenda.
Agreed. I wasn't there but felt initial disappointment when I heard they'd scored again (reminded me of the reaction of Stockdale, Duffy and Dunk when Sheffield Wednesday scored their consolation goal in the 95th minute in October). However, it is a sign of the expectations of fans/players now...
