I was just thinking exactly the same. Cannot think of one striker who has signed for another club who was a realistic signing and one I would have wanted.
I felt it was implied from the post but if that's not what you meant, then fair enough.
The follow up point still stands though. If we don't go up, it doesn't automatically mean we've bottled it.
I would have thought a club as terrible as Brighton would only deserve Category C or D. Or maybe they'll just make up a new category to reflect how big they are and how small we are.
This thing about Albion bottling it really irritates me. Yes, we've reached the play offs three times in the last four years but we've had injury issues in two of them and Poyet's season there was other stuff going on and we still hit the bar at 0-0 in the second leg.
What is this idea of us...
The number of players out was a major factor on Saturday too. Any team in this division would struggle with six players out, especially when four would start any normal game (and the other two were next in line for left back). Look how Newcastle have struggled without their main player (Shelvey)...
Leeds fans are so deluded. I remember chatting to one of them after our one defeat away to them in recent years (thanks to a goal in the last minute which was due to a blatant handball). He basically said that we should be honoured to be playing them and we'd have been delighted to have won at...
Is this seriously still being debated? I genuinely can't believe anyone is suggesting we should sell one of our best players to get some money but put promotion at risk. As you say, I'm sure Bloom won't risk promotion to cash in on Stephens now.
Agreed re today although I keep thinking that and we keep winning!
Think it is being quite greedy too. And QPR and Fulham both had nothing to play for and actually we weren't great in either game until we scored the first goal. Brentford and Leeds were impressive, as was Bristol City away, but...
Still close in the end though. Where I think we have been stronger is taking our chances so maybe there were games last year, especially the first half of the season, where we dominated and didn't finish teams off. This year we've maybe been less dominant at times (had less possession and shots)...
There were still a lot of close games in the second half of the season e.g. Forest, Birmingham and MK away, Reading and Bolton home etc but there were comprehensive wins too. We are winning games comprehensively this season at times too. You mention Norwich as the only one but I would say...
This time last year we hadn't beaten a team by more than one goal. Hardly destroying teams. It was the second half of the season where we started to beat teams comprehensively.
Amusingly I looked at the Leicester forum yesterday (where they were talking about the Knockaert article) and a few were saying that Knockaert is a better player than Schlupp and they wished he was still there. So, on that basis, they are paying £12 million for someone that some Leicester fans...
How exactly is it doom and gloom? It is a massively textbook comment. We are looking for the right player(s), if we don't get them I am comfortable with what I have. I know it is NSC but do you not see how this is a major over reaction to a very typical transfer window quote that many managers...
Completely agree. I think Derby are the bigger threat overall (especially as they seem to be spending again this window) but Leeds are closer to us currently so we definitely want a draw.
As others have said, it is all down to us in a way. If we win tomorrow, we will gain ground on at least one...
It's a fair point. The bonus we have is that QPR's season may well be over by then (as it was when we played them at home last season). There will only be six games left and I think they'll be well clear of the bottom three by then and won't be near the play offs.
I also know it is often said...
Hardly gloom is it? We're top of the league, eight points and a game in hand ahead of third place and are on an incredible run. I imagine he simply got asked at the press conference about possible new signings and said we are looking but comfortable with what we have. What do you want him to...
Do you mean like Ridgewell and Knockaert who we signed in the first week of January last year? In trying to make a point there is no point making up stuff.
However, we're hardly short of players at the moment. The argument that we need another striker to back up Baldock for the season is valid...
