Exactly he needs a partner up front and not to be played as a lone striker. With the system we play even Rooney would struggle with the service that CMS gets.

Whoever he signs they gonna be stuck on their own up front. Just change the system to a 4-4-2 and save a bloody fortune. The players we have are capable of scoring goals in an attacking system.

I agree that it's the way we play. Put him in a normal 4-4-2 and I am sure he would be on 20 goals by now. Gus Poyet is a great character but IMHO he is somewhat stubborn with his tactics. It's a shame CMS should have been one of our greatest strikers of all time.

Give Barnes a chance in a 4-4-2 and I am sure he will score goals. He is not a defensive/forward running midfielder, not fair to judge playing in that role but he does what Gus asks of him. It a boring playing role and I am sure he must get frustated at not be able to play alongside CMS.

I remember the Southend game. the pitch was bloody awful and played a big part in us losing the match. I can remember some frustrated supporters shouting at Mickey Adams to quit.

Terry Connor was at Fairlight school 1983. Showed signs then of being a good coach and managed to make the worst school football team look good. Enjoyed playing with him and even called me by my first name after about 5 minutes. Always said hard lines if you missed a chance or tackle.
