None of the above. I still think its inexperience amongst many of our team that means consistency and decision making in key moments isn't at the levels these players will eventually reach. Lamptey, White, Connolly show some great moments, and also Webster, Maupay, Bissouma, Trossard, and Potter...
They were both excellent free kicks and both examples of things we're doing better than we were before. The fact they both botched their finish doesn't change that we've improved there so I think a little harsh to hold them up as an argument that we're STILL bad at set pieces.
My issue is that he didn't overrule him per se, but refereed the decision from scratch without consideration of the original refs decision. It was incredibly marginal but the VAR ref decided he had to rule one way of the other, and came down on the side of penalty. What VAR should do is say 'its...
Strange? Not really. The premier league refs are the best in the country. I would have hated being on the opposite side of either of the villa and Liverpool penalty decisions, but the letter of the law was applied. Same here. I can see why he decided the foul did continue into the box - just -...
I have to say its a penalty. A premier league ref looked at it for ages and concluded it was a penalty. He knows the laws of the game far better than me. So penalty.
For me its more about VAR enabling a re refereeing of the game from the TV box, its not what VAR is supposed to be about.
Yeah, I think I'm there too with Ryan. There was a moment quite late in the second half when Mccarthy came and claimed a corner fairly far from his line when we had them under pressure and it was an important moment. Ryan can't do that so I'm not criticising him, but it is the next step for us...
I don't see how that's possibly true, not learning from mistakes... We've been changing things around on the defensive side all season, it's been pretty clear...
The personnel in different zones on corners has changed, we've taken a deeper line for wider free kicks, noticed both those things...
*yet*
Maybe this is the best Potter can be, but really a manager who can take a Swedish 4th division side to the latter stages of the europa league; a manager who can change around the playing style of a club and blood a load of youngsters all while staying up in the hardest league in the...
Oh I think it's easy to explain, it was a nasty clash, Welbeck looked hurt and he wanted to stop the game so they should get treatment. The ref actually gives us a little moment to continue our attack but when it breaks down he stops the game. Can't give a foul against them as it would be a pen...
Its just the re-refereeing of games thats annoying. The VAR ref has decided that he has to make a decision, and it took him that long to work out the one he thought was correct. The option to not make a decision, because its borderline, because its taking so long, and go back to the on field ref...
Past of my identity as a Brightonian is being proud of our diversity and inclusivity and I take that with me wherever in the world I am. I am proud to be on that side of the divide and not on the side of those dinosaurs who use the words gayers and poofs as derogatory.
Would someone like Maupay be able to get a work permit for a club like Brentford in future? Guess who hurt lower league clubs to a degree, Kuipers wouldn't have got a work permit, nor Calderón or Knockaert I expect
Someone certainly did do well with a lucrative payment that set them up for the future :
"Much of their wealth is derived from a £1.2bn dividend payment Sir Philip took from Arcadia and paid to his wife in 2005, two years after buying the business.

Total XG for a game is pointless because it doesn't take into account the context of a match. Team that takes an early 1-0 lead and defends it well will have a low xG but win the match, but their opponents constantly on the attack will tot up lots of xG moments into a high xG for the game...
