Are you a moderator Tom Hark Preston Park ?
Seems this was edited but it doesn't show as editted. Sets a slightly unlikeable precedent if so. Especially given what a wind up merchant you are.
There is no doubt that Covid will hit club finances and it seems clear that the average paid for a player will come down. But individual player prices can do anything. It's like house prices when people say average prices have come down by 10%. It didn't mean all houses sold for 10% less...
I do do gambling but I understand the stats. Why do bookies have us as less likely than say Burnley and Newcastyle to go down? Our run in is nasty (on paper at least).
Not often, but not 'never'. I can think of a few opportunities that we spurned (a glaring one by Welbeck) in the last game. Three or four decent crosses from Ali J and that was in the last quarter of one game.
Worth resharing one of my few player stories now I think.
Watching a pre-season game from the front of WSL, and Dp is warming up. He stops by us to do some impressive stretches. the guy sitting a couple of seats away takes the opportunity to get some clarity on an issue that bugged us all in...
I can highly recommend Pip's Hot Sauce. We always have a stash of their Boca Del Diablo in the cupboard. It's not super hot at all, I'd call it medium, but we're all aclimatised differently - but it has a really deep flavour as well as heat. Not sure where you can buy it, but we buy six at a go...
And salary is an issue in the scenario. Would we (a) want Abrahams and (b) would we be prepared to meet his wage damends?
He's that slghtly rare and over-priced thing - an English player with some talent. Whilst we might want his skills, his salary will have a huge premium v an overseas...
The words of my very good friend David (WSL) have stuck with me for decades:
- wee when you can
- never trust a fart
- never waste a stiffy
Pretty sound starting point for every day.
Not sure I buy that Big Sam mythology.
Chelsea had a man sent off after 25 minutes and they had a day when every shot went in. Southampton were resting players, or at least had one eye on, the FA Cup semi final. Prior to that WBA were doing nothing.
Still gotta win em, but I'm not judging Fat...
Lot of interesting stuff in this thread. Clearly he's a very good keeper and at the start of his learning curve - so more to come one would expect.
Couple of extra observations - he tends to clear with a short pass under instruction from GP I assume, but when he does "put his laces through it"...
