I'm all for him and whilst he is young, expectations when he arrived were very high (Biss replacement was often mentioned). Of course we should give him a chance. Maybe the fact that the excitement and hype around him has cooled a little says more about us fans (new shiny objects to get excited...
Lots of people sharing their "Albion XI" on social media, but no one considering Caicedo - who at one point was talked about like he'd be the next Messiah. Have we gone off him a bit? Just been forgotten whilst he's in S America? Not fulfilling his promise just yet?
I did a poll back in May just to see the lie of the POTS land. Biss was streets ahead of anyone else (51%), with Veltman (28%) a comfortable distance ahead of Dunk (11%) and no one else really in the running (ion NSC at least). White didn't pick up a single one of the 71 votes from NSC users...
The pain of all this will be that when he does become an England regular, Leeds fans will for ever be banging on about how bielsa "made him", and the suck ups in the media will refer to it too. £50m will make that palatable, but it will always be a bit of grit in the salad.
He was the surprise of last season for me. I really thought he might have a big impact, esp given Solly's long term injury. But bar the odd game, nothing. Slower to adapt than Moder? Still very young? I'd love to see him deliver on your hunch this year.
And Veltman cost less than a mill. Seriously unconstructive observation by you that entirely ignores the fact that we're dealing with humans here and that we're a small player with less appeal (and choice) than many clubs.
Have you seen the list from the Prem showing the ins and outs in squads. All teams (bar Palarse and perhaps one of the promoted sides) are shipping out players at a rate of knots. All cutting their cloth with the aim of reducing wage bills I would suspect. In that market, moving on high wage...
But will he get that match time at the Albion? So much competition in his positions at the moment, I can't see him getting a run. It's a bit cheicken & egg isn't it.
30 appearances across the end of 2019/20 and the whole of 2020/21. Should be aclimatised by now? He's 23 in December. This has to be his break out season I think.
And I really want him to do well. Love watching him play and know he has it in him to be a match winner.
What do we think of Alexis? Showed flashes of real skill last season but it felt like he could be bullied off the ball at times. Wasn't a nailed on starter by any means. Not scoring enough goals.
Will this be his breakthrough season? Will he get the opportunities (as our midfield options...
"I think there has been an issue with Bissouma in that he has something of a checkered past off the field and as often happens these days, when players go through further checks after they’ve been through the analytics filter and the on-field observational test, clubs can get more careful about...
Sorry to bring back the unhappy memories. Does a picture of Marc Cucurella's misses help? https://www.elespanol.com/elbernabeu/topic/20201112/claudia-rodriguez-espectacular-marc-cucurella-nombre-seleccion/535476452_3.html#img_9
