The Sancho to Man Utd deal was virtually sorted before the Euros with him having a medical afterwards. I expect Cucurella's agent can deal with personal terms on his behalf and we can agree a fee with the club, if the will is there with all parties.

NSC: Why the hell did we spend £9 million on that useless lump Locadia?

Also NSC: Albion, go and spend £15 million on Cucurella before he's had a medical.

Not sure this guy will be what we need. Happy to be proved wrong though.

Have you not seen his other half?

I don't give a fudge if he plays football like...

...well, me.

We must SING HIM UP.

Same.

Solly looks better, to me. This guy looks like his back-up (if we are playing wingbacks).

That said, all I have to go by are a couple of highlight reels and some stats, so who knows...
I'd love to be wrong. And I'd love him to be the next Lamptey!

I'm more interested in seeing what Karbownik can do. He looks more exciting, to me at least.

Back up for a player who missed half of last season.
Instead play a young right back.

It's a crazy plan...

...it's unlikely to work.

Karbownik is a midfielder.

Karbownik is a midfielder.

Better tell Potter then…

“He has a lot of adaptability; he can play either side of the defence, as well as in midfield. He's an exciting young player who we are looking forward to having in the group.”

Why? Potter has already said in your quote he can play in midfield.

It’s well know he started out as a centre mid and covered at LB and did well there. Clearly he is versatile but Potter didn’t trust him to cover for March at LWB last season so it’s obvious we need another player who can play there.

That was last season, I am not expecting to see Karbo start the opening game, but I will be surprised if he isn't getting into the side at all this season.

Players priorities normally are between Money , Trophies + country/location

Can't see us winning any of them v Roma

In it to win it though.

That's not quite accurate, if Andy Naylor is to be believed:

"The Athletic understands he would prefer to revert to left-back, his main position in 48 league appearances for Barcelona’s B team from 2016-19.

Cucurella wants to play for a more possession-based club..."

He was the surprise of last season for me. I really thought he might have a big impact, esp given Solly's long term injury. But bar the odd game, nothing. Slower to adapt than Moder? Still very young? I'd love to see him deliver on your hunch this year.

I could see him going out on loan to be honest.

There were several times when we were desperate for a left/right wing back last season with so many injuries but Potter plugged the gap with central midfielders rather than trust Karbo who is a specialist in this area. That’s not going to change in a couple of months to be honest.

I believe that Potter thinks this lad needs a touch more development before he trusts him, probably the sort you don’t get in the U23s.

We might have to wait until he is 22 or 23 before he is considered for a regular spot in the first team.

A lot of players make a lot of things known to the media, then sing for the exact opposite.

If he were true to that word Roma would be the last club he'd consider.

Would Roma be the last club you'd consider signing for?

I didn't think so.

Roma under JM would be fairly low down the list if I was an attack-minded full back. But I take your overall point.

You said simply ‘he’s a midfielder’ whereas he’s actually a defender predominantly, who can play in midfield if needed. He’s played full back / wing back in his apps for us. So yes, saying he’s a midfielder is in accurate…

He'll still be contracted to Roma for about 4 more years after The Jose has left 'under a cloud'.
