    [Music] John Mayall RIP

Last saw him live at Cordoba Guitar Festival in 2010, still performing in his 'wife beater vest' (as Mrs BS calls them). Excellent musician and mentor to many who followed. RIP.

[Travel] What is the best, and worst, toilets you've ever visited in the UK?

Best at Covent Garden, ultra clean, brass and copper shining. Worst, Stafford Rangers FC, smell it 25 mtrs away, a long wall to pee against, no hand washing etc.

[Misc] Who taps us on the shoulder and says "time you stopped driving old fruit"?

Hit 70 here and it's a compulsory full medical (general health, height/weight ratio, eyesight, hearing) plus a reaction test before to pass before being able to renew your licence. Pass with flying colours and it's renewed for 5 years and later every 2 years as age progresses. Every town has a...

    [Football] Euros 2024 - Matchday 7

I was watching the game on Spanish TV and the commentators were far from complimentary about Southgate's changes. In fact one said 'if England lose Southgate deserves to be beaten with clubs'.

[Football] Football clubs and bird names

An interesting article in RBA this week that may interest a few on here; Bird names and the beautiful game There is no sport like football. It's estimated that there are 240 million registered players globally, with audience participation in the billions. In December 2022, 1.5 billion people...

[Politics] Overseas Brits, register here to vote!

I for one wouldn't shut up if you called me an economic migrant! I choose to live here, pay all my taxes to the Spanish government and do not expect or wish to receive a single cent from the said government in return. Your statement may have been correct pre BREXIT and the Withdrawal Agreement...

[Politics] Overseas Brits, register here to vote!

I feel as if I'm in a Catch 22 position - paying taxes in Spain but no vote, and having a vote in the UK but not paying taxes there. I suppose the only justification for me to vote in the UK would be asking my daughter who she wants me to vote for as it's her future.

    [News] Post Office Scandal -

The equally despicable ex top lawyer for the Post Office, Jane MacLeod, has apparently refused to give evidence at the inquiry and cannot be forced as she lives abroad. Disgraceful behaviour but I bet she'd soon be running back to the UK if her pension should stop...

[Misc] The Official NSC Bird Spotting Thread.

You do need to treat Merlin with a little caution even though it's a good app. Why not add BirdNET app too? Here you actually record the bird song. Then you send it to the BirdNET servers in Germany who will analyze your recordings. Generally it is more accurate.

[Misc] The Official NSC Bird Spotting Thread.

I'm sure a few fellow NSC's partook in Global Birding Day last Saturday. I did as part of the Andaguiri team and produced 8 lists and a total of 97 species. But the highlight for me was finding this Long-eared Owl hiding in a mulberry tree.
