[Football] The Non-League Football Thread- 2023/24 Edition

I did wonder that. I drove there. I blame Dr Beeching. I'm convinced he cut the East Grinstead roots to show he wasn't being biased.

[Football] The Non-League Football Thread- 2023/24 Edition

I'm shocked at East Grinstead. I've been there with Hawks and I think I've only done a few Sussex grounds. Who'd have thought I would have one on our Jack.

[Misc] Have you ever discharged a firearm?

I fired one of those gun things at a fair. And got into a lot of trouble for it. The bloke who ran the stool said he had no prizes so we could have some extra pellets. Being the little scally I was, I thought the light bulbs along the top of the gazebo were fair game. I was a pretty good shot...

[Albion] Is it weird to “enjoy” a defeat?

I remember when Sheffield Wednesday came to the Goldstone and inflicted a MASSIVE 4-0 defeat on us in 1990. I thoroughly enjoyed watching that match. They played sublime football. Of couse I wanted Albion to win, but we're supposed to enjoy football and they were a worthy watch that day.

    [Albion] Jeremy Sarmiento

I'd say It's far from certain. Playoffs can be very draining for a team that's come very close

    [Football] Toxic Male Aggression

The only problem is that Crodo started the thread. I'm no longer taken in- because it's Crodo. Unless it's a thread about The Hundred in which I launch into a barrage of abuse.

[Football] The worst (best) free-kick in football history?

First player cops it, but the second goes down dramatically and still manages to send the ball into the first. I'm not sure we will ever see that repeated.

[Albion] Has the tide turned on RDZ

Why don't we start and in/out thread ? As much as I don't like his unfettered mouth at times, and him being labelled as a footballing deity when he has much to learn, I wouldn't want him to leave in footballing terms. He's been very good for us. I don't know why this is a thing. It still...

Mac employing the dark arts there. Although I think his booking was harsh too

Although had a penalty been given it would have remained. Nunez made the most of a tug. They all do it.

[Politics] Is it OK to say racist things if you're not racist?

There is some truth in this although, as ever, the truth probably lays somewhere in between. The politics of identity sometimes flies in the face of the concept of multiculturalism which is sold to us. Multiculturalism is myth anyway. We don't live in a multicultural society. I would say we...

    [Albion] Team for Liverpool (a)

10 miles away. That's an awesome turnaround. Where were you living at the time ? It wasn't just the quick deliveries to newsagents. There were armies of paperboys at the ready. Pretty sure ours was on the mat by 6.30 in Queen's Park.

    [Albion] Team for Liverpool (a)

I was only 6 at the time, but remember the reports on the radio from the Colchester match that month and seeing the score in the Argus later. They must have turned the press round pretty quickly back then.

Was that the 6-0 Colchester United match or the Mansfield Town one ?

    [Drinking] I’ve gone off Alcohol

I've not drunk a drop for at least a year. More than happy with that. My medication gives me enough of a buzz :ROFLMAO:

[Football] Guess the managerial merry go round

Folk are influenced by the media who just speculate and make stories up. It's hard to know how high RDZ stock really is. If Gareth Southgate was a United target (there is no actual evidence he is) then RDZ would be another they have.

[Politics] Tory meltdown finally arrived [was: incoming]...

It's as if they are just not bothered anymore. But I think the knighthood to Phillip Davies was just about the bottom of the barrel.

    [Misc] Working from home

Not much to add to this. All my work has been done from home for the last 4 years. The most important thing is to get out and exercise. What I did was map out a walk to work and and a walk home. So basically, the idea is that before I start work I go for a 20 to 25 minute walk. When I finish...
