As others have said even if chicksen can step up we will still need another left back(along with 8 more since the squad only has 13 players at the moment!)
Again a left field choice who record appears good. Maybe some decent contacts as regards players. Just looked and not including those offered but not yet signed we have 13 players only on the books. If Bloom thinks he is the one then lets get it done and get done to planning next season.
No doubt people will instantly be telling me to calm down etc but next week will be 4 weeks since Oscar left, which was not a great surprise to most since the fact that he was unsettled was in the papers. You are saying it could be a further 2 weeks from then, in fact just a few days before what...
Chicksen may well have what it takes to be a championship fullback. But of the best, bar Burnely I think, championship back four last season we have currently still under contract Greer and Dunk who played a limited part. I would be disappointed if Ward did not sign and it would leave us looking...
So if it is not this morning, I am guessing we are unlikely to see any news until probably early next week once they have finished their jolly/business meeting. Oh well no need for the refresh button for a few days.
Would be happy if Hoddle were to get the job. Good coach with reputation for trying to develop youth. When I consider some of the other names in the frame such as Mowbray or even Hughton with his negative football then what's not to like
Surely you don't appoint on the basis that the manager wont see you as a stepping stone. I want someone with ambition and drive who wants to do better rather than someone who lacks quality but is grateful.
Not sure I agree with the no pressing urgency comment. We have huge holes in the squad, no goalkeepers or right backs etc and not many players will join not knowing who will manage them so I say it is very important it is sorted soon.
I also have that horrible fear it could be Jones and again think budget or lack of has played a part in limiting our choice. Hope to be massively wrong.
Hope you are right, but just don't see it. You normally get some noise coming out that things are about to happen, but we are getting no indications at the moment. All very frustrating.
If neither of these who do you think it is? I personally hope it isn't Hughton, he has a reputation for negative football, but by default of no one else seemingly wanting the job it could well be him.
Or could it be that he is nearly the only one left in the top few since Clarke is now heavily linked with Celtic and Clement and Sherwood have, according to others, turned us down? May also reflect in the movements for Zola and Powell.
