These so called "ard nuts"....... take away any one of 3 things and it wouldn't happen.
Immaturity.
Booze/drugs.
Barrier to away fans.
A bit more wisdom, a lot less booze/drugs or lack of an effective barrier/police/stewards to keep the opposition away and suddenly they're not so hard.
I know how you feel. None of us knew what it would be like supporting Albion in a competitive away european tie, and I dare say many of us could have imagined such an incredible atmosphere as we encountered. It way exceeded expectations for me too.
You've seen this stuff on TV, being there in...
Just about to head off to Nimes airport in our Alamo fiat 500 (luckily with no damage thus far)

Fantastic story telling photo set!
And from the stadium pics, you must've literally been right in front of me and I never noticed a fella with camera!
K block row 42?
We were near front of top tier bus queue to get out and right next to the very tooled up French police, who I thought personally were excellent. They helped a couple of senior Albion fans who struggled in the queue, they were civil, we talked a little to one. For sure getting out was a shambles...
Feel the same. Knew Marseille was a big club with a reputation of some crowd trouble, but had no idea the atmosphere would be like that, the noise was deafening, the whistles intimidating to our players. I've never witnessed anything like that at a game.
Makes Palace attempts at ultras look...
