[Brighton] Sports shops in Brighton and Hove

I think they moved from the Seven Dials store (where the Tin Drum is now?) to the Western Road, Hove store which was a lot smaller but packed with stock.

    Oakmeeds School, Burgess Hill

Played football against them late 70s. We were getting stuffed so our keeper said to me he fancied saving a penalty and could I give one away? Their striker was clean through, about to shoot and I hacked him down. He got up and spat at me. Not only was no penalty given, I didn’t even get...

[Brighton] Sports shops in Brighton and Hove

Have you seen the ‘Casuals’ programme on Amazon Prime? These and other Adidas (or Adeeeedus, as pronounced on the programme by Scousers!) trainers get quite a mention!

They used to have a great supply of Subbuteo gear in there. I remember saving up, cycling down there to buy 1 Subbuteo floodlight!

Yes, how could I have forgotten them? Used them for years both at Dyke Road and Western Road

[Brighton] Sports shops in Brighton and Hove

I recently had need to visit an actual sports shop and buy some equipment, and went to Nick Rivett sports in Hove. But it made me think about all the sports shops I knew growing up that had bitten the dust, many of which were (Danny Dyer voice approaching) proper old school sports shops. For...

[Albion] What a Lovely Club Chelsea Are..

Might reflect more on the people you mix with? But I’ve done the maths and now I’m worried. This is just Chelsea. Assuming there are others in Albion’s fan base who follow other clubs, in an average crowd it means 27,000 support other teams, 3,000 are away fans anyway and the remaining...

    [Cricket] Ashes 2021-22

Funnily enough I shouted that out too at one point during the game, when all other possible comebacks had been trashed by our performance on the pitch!

    [Cricket] Ashes 2021-22

When I was at the Sydney test in 2007, and we had just lost 5-0, Boycott and Aggers were on the outfield near me and about to go live with a wrap up of the day. I shouted out ‘they could have done with you out there today Geoffrey’ and without hesitation he shouted back ‘they could have done...

[Football] Attendance figure for last night???

But then they would have to quote three, not two, figures: Actual number of people in attendance (call me old fashioned ….) Number of seats sold (can never exceed capacity) Number of tickets sold (as the same seat can be sold more than once via Ticket Exchange, this can be more than capacity)...

    [Cricket] Ashes 2021-22

Or a left field suggestion, a youngish captain like South Africa did with Graeme Smith - my suggestion, appreciating it is not without risk, Will Rhodes of Warwickshire given that they were County Champions as well. He’s also captained England under 19s and MCC against the county champions so...

[Football] Attendance figure for last night???

So as tickets sold can exceed capacity for some games, are we happy with quoting a a figure that exceeds capacity?

[Football] Attendance figure for last night???

It’s so subjective what the figure quoted should be. I would always say it should be those physically there, so for Sunday around 15,000. Albion quote tickets sold, as far as I know, but that is not always the same as seats sold - so for a game where the ticket exchange kicks in they will...

Chris Silverwood - he’s got a plan, lots of positives, we have to find a way of pushing back. I think he just gave himself a B+.

Just glad I didn’t waste my money going, having been to every Ashes series away bar one from 1998/9 onwards.

I get sick of the pre-match interviews promising improvement, 50s being turned into 100s, all the right words and then followed by this bollocks. Don’t talk, just show us on the frigging pitch!
