It is a bit weird, as you say, that 'Conspiring to Cause Public Nuisance' results in 5 years, whilst 'Violent Disorder' is only 20 - 30 months or so.
I haven't looked at the details of the JSO case but I'm assuming they got full whack as they pleaded 'not guilty' and went to trail, whereas the...
He’s just been charged with Encouraging Violent Disorder.
I have absolutely no knowledge of sentencing guidelines but on my Crown Court Bingo card, I’m going to tick:
1. Pleads ‘Guilty’ to get the auto 1/3 discount (seems sensible).
2. Gets banged up for 12 months.
If it came across as aggression then I apologise.
I’d fully agree that Starmer is behind the fast-tracking of court cases as he knows it acts as big deterrent. But it will be the CPS who decide who has charges to face, based on the evidence the police are able to gather.
What on earth are you talking about??
SKS is the Prime Minister. Deciding who goes before the courts isn’t for him to decide, or even the police. It is the job of the CPS to decide who goes to court. If someone pleads guilty the judge hands down a sentence inline with established guidelines; if...
Agreed; one or two posters completely dominating a thread with a lot of posts (often repeating the same points many times) is massively dull - and is something that you would hope could addressed through just a modicum of self-moderation.
Agreed. What an absolute weapon. What was he thinking, ffs?
In the current climate I'd imagine that telling a crowd to cut people's throats will result in bit of contemplative time at His Majesty's pleasure.
Yes, I think the kit is okay - a lot better than Rio, which was just a mess.
I agree about the weird black waistband and cuffs on the podium gear - not massively flattering; but having said that I quite like the t-shirt version (it doesn't have the silly dark trim).
I was pondering buying one...
Adidas produced the design in-house and claim it is a “design DNA that celebrates the unique aspects of Great Britain, while encapsulating the fire of passion that burns within every athlete."
So anyone believing it is simply a white trackie top with GREAT BRITAIN printed across the chest in...
Or Chris Eubank driving along the sea front in his Big Rig, wearing riding jodhpurs and handing out signed photos, whether you want one or not
Simply the Best
This is the 2024 Olympics thread.
If people want to start a new thread about British sport in general, please go ahead. I’d be happy to read and contribute myself. But please don’t f*** up this one - it’s been a great thread so far, celebrating all sports and all competing nations.
Thanks.
Interesting that this track is reckoned to be about 2% quicker than the one used in Tokyo.
Good for the sprinters as they just blast it; tricky for the middle-distance Track Gods to judge their race pace and tactics and probably just sheer murder on the shins and calves for the 5000 and 10000m...
It’s a great track for fast times though; pretty much everyone who’s come off it reckons it’s a quick track, which combined with the adrenaline of an Olympic final, is producing some fast times and WRs across the board.
Can’t believe the GB competitor had too run with a bib that just said “Bird” on it.
You’d have thought they’d have taken the trouble to find out her name ffs
