Any striker would almost certainly come from abroad again. The sort of money that would be needed to prise the players being mentioned here from English clubs would be astronomical, and they'd be unlikely to sell to a Championship rival anyway. Also, if any of those players became available...
Well said, Attila. I don't, though, personally subscribe to the view that they've had justice yet. The truth, yes. It's a start. But for me justice will only follow when the people responsible, both for the disaster and the subsequent cover up and smear campaign, have actually had to pay for...
As well as the (perfectly reasonable) points being made about cost and scheduling - two away trips of that expense and time requirement in a week - there's also, I think, a reflection of the crushing disappointment on missing out on automatic promotion here. If we had, for example, snuck into...
I'm with Simster on this one too. I have no sense of excitement for the play-offs whatsoever, and no sense of optimism. Don't mean to feel like this or choose it, it's just how it feels after Saturday. Absolutely flat.
I haven't watched it back since, Gwylan, so am prepared to defer to your later view - I've only got what it looked like at the time in the stadium to go on, and as you said, the crowd was going nuts at him that day.
You missed Phil Prosser - the bloke who wrongly accused Brighton fans of racism after the most inept reffing performance I've ever seen, if I recall correctly?
One particularly galling thing is that, according not just to the refs' interpretation of the laws but also subsequent analysis of that interpretation, Joey Barton stamping on Beram Kayal is not even a yellow card, but Dale Stephens getting to the ball first and having his studs kicked by...
As outrageous as it is predictable. They were never going to show up one of their 'best' refs, nor allow the suggestion that the outcome of such a pivotal fixture, with so much riding on it, could be affected by reffing decisions. Utterly apalling but there was only ever going to be this outcome.
From believing we could do it for much of the season, I certainly feel flat now. One win, seven draws and one defeat from the other top five so far does not inspire too much confidence and the pressure, which would all have been on Middlesbrough, is now pretty evenly shared IMO.
Hughton himself...
Same boat here. 45 years old so age is clearly irrelevant. And this is a game I regard as a free hit, basically - go to Middlesbrough and win and this one won't matter, but that fact hasn't helped. What's it going to be like before the Boro game, FFS?
Meanwhile, at the home end, the beamback's confirmed and tickets are already on sale. Have just bought in the North Stand - need to watch this with my own, I think.
From that thread:
"It will be interesting for the "Brighton fans" in the PL as a lot of those that go to the Amex actually support a different PL team and only go when their team are playing away but will they continue to support Brighton as they will be a direct rival ??"
Where the hell did...
I wonder what it is about us that makes other teams, and not just their support, fail to take us seriously even when we're winning? Pardew's complaint that 'the best team didn't win the league' when we'd taken four points off his Reading side (and had a good goal disallowed in the last minute at...
Unless we find ourselves in the same position again in future, there never will be a game more important to us than Hereford away. You can't play big games if there's no club.
The fact that the debate's happening at all shows what a marvellous season it's been. Maybe the impossible contrast with last season has made it feel even better than the superb season it undoubtedly has been, but I don't care what the reasons are - I've loved it. Win or lose, these players...
I'd also be giving it to whoever's attended most games this season, unless the older son's paying for it.
If that won't work, it'll have to be something like drawing lots - but get them to agree with whatever method of random selection you're going to use, first.
No way I'd be giving that...
