Well I’ve heard differently about the trouble from those in the away end who were caught in a shower of bottles flying in from the home fans, the worst they have seen for years, but I wasn’t there so can’t say. I’ve also heard there was a lot of fighting outside the away end.
If you are saying...
I wasn’t there and can’t comment with any confidence but what I heard was that the bottles came from the home fans, and that they got it back with a bit of interest. But who knows what the truth was, as I said they both have their share of idiots.
It’s mentioned a bit here...
Shouldn’t have been allowed to stand for the offside or the dangerous play, but you should have had a penalty so I guess it evens itself out.
On a less happy note, I heard reports of plenty of trouble there yesterday but also of a 16 year old away fan the victim of a random attack and ended up...
It’s the smell that puts plenty off. I’m surprised they are even as high as category C .
4 or 5 times their allocation? They do love an exaggeration. I was listening to a phone in when Gerrard was described by one of their faithful as ‘the greatest manager we have ever had in our...
It’s not often a team that was so phenomenal in winning trophies in the early 20th century come to town.
I imagine there would be a similar demand if Preston or the Royal Engineers came to town!
I was working in Athens in the late 90s and was there when Olympiakos played Ajax in the Champions League. There were 4 of us and we were the only 4 that didn’t look obviously Greek and therefore, by definition we must be Ajax fans.
The floodlights went as we were queuing to get in and the...
I think I was at that Wolves game, must have been late 1984? I was in the away end - after the game about 25 of the Wolves yoof jumped the barriers, avoiding damage to their Pringle sweaters, and gave it the big ‘come on then, who wants it?’. The Albion fans just laughed and they all trudged...
I think that was all happening around me. One guy who came and stood next to me - “ orroight, lads. Sorry oi’m late, gart into a foight with some Broighton farns arrn the way in…..”
Well I know that’s not true, because I phoned them and as soon as they got a sniff I didn’t have a local address we got into a discussion which ended with the call being ended by them!
The Cambridge v Albion game is on here just after 36 minutes, but unfortunately the picture and sound quality is not the best, just good enough to spot a young Dion Dublin and our stripey shorts!

The ultimate one for me was on May 3, 1997. Got the tickets through a relative who lived nearby as they weren’t selling to anyone from outside the area and I hadn’t managed to get any tickets from Albion. It got rather tasty in there more than once, more than a few proudly with bloodied shirts...
