    Yeah, like I give a f***.

Same old bushy, try and hijack every debate into yet another one on immigration, using over-simplistic, dated, and just plain wrong arguments.

What about Middle Street? ;) BTW, South Street did also once exist but it's now somewhere under the beach or sea.

That means it's exactly correct twice a day.

Don't care, as I said it's the pedantic bit of me that's annoyed by it - I was too young to know the difference at the time of the chant.

Friend of mine used to live in Hannover Terrace, the house was surprisinly big and airy inside.

My old man claims there's a passage to the school that he and some his mates used to meet the girls during and just after the war. (...and before the paedo jokes start, he was 14 when the war ended). Could be that if it's in the right place.

I do wish you'd change your custom user title, it annoys the pedant in me. Gotsmanov was from Belarus, not Russia. His international career started with the Soviet Union, but when it split, he played for Belarus, NEVER Russia. Soviet international or Belorussian international - either will do.

    Unemployment benefit/government handouts.

It takes a special kind of person to leave their home country and move thousands of miles to live in a foreign country, especially if you don't know the language. Eastern European countries have just as many workshy scroungers as we do, we just don't tend to meet them becuase they, like ours...

    Unemployment benefit/government handouts.

One big problem is that too many people, including those in government, can't (or won't) distinguish between the first category, and the second and third ones.

    Unemployment benefit/government handouts.

I'm a teacher by trade, for four years I was in a pastoral role, meaning that dealing with kids who had been abused, were in care, etc was a major part of my job. If you had any idea how being put into care can f*** kids up you'd withdraw that comment immediately. The welfare of the kids is WAY...

Fair point, more of Cameron's mates get slightly richer.

    Unemployment benefit/government handouts.

Maybe it is but what's the solution? You say they should be forced into work, OK, but that means you have to force someone to employ them. Who? Also, you're completely missing the ppoint that there are more unemployed people than there are jobs available, a LOT more. Personally I believe that...

I worked at the King Alfred part time while I was doing my A'levels, 1985-7. It's an AMAZING building, only a tiny amount of it is used. There's at least 5 floors BELOW the changing room level. When I was working there the lights still worked in some corridors and rooms but not others. We used...

    Unemployment benefit/government handouts.

We all know people like that, but I think they're a relatively small part of the unemployment problem. But how do you deal with them? They're never gonna work, and if you do force them into work all you're doing is stopping someone else getting the job who might actually want it. Also, if you...

So, do you lot ever meet up for a drink?

Can you afford the air fare?

    Unemployment benefit/government handouts.

The main defence for this seems to be that it will help people get back into work, my argument is it actually can have the opposite effect. What unemployed people need, and I'm talking abiut genuione unemployed people here, not the scroungers we all know exist, is real opportunities to get back...
