My biggest music-related regret was when going to see The Buzzcocks in London in the early 1980s, but deciding to give the 'special guests' support act a miss in favour of sitting in the bar.
We didn't know that the support act was an up-and-coming Manc band called Joy Division. Have never...
Good shout!
Love Nick Cave, but I walked out of a Birthday Party gig in Leeds in the 1980s after just two songs - a fekkin' racket (and I like punk!) and the band aggressively goading the audience to provoke a response.
In terms of record sales? I believe Ozzy certainly sold more records than Sabbath, because in the 1980s, he benefitted from a wider fan base (Sabbath fans and the New Wave of British Heavy Metal), and then MTV. He also became a star in the US - much more so than Sabbath had ever been...
If only governments were even 1% as zealous in clamping down on tax-dodging corporations as they are in hounding and vilifying genuine welfare claimants.
Far, far, more is lost through tax avoidance than through social security fraud, yet it is the latter that the public gets angry about, and...
Zero confidence, sadly.
I expect the 'official line' will be to make do with the players we've got, on the basis that they should all show an improvement on last season, and thus score a few more goals (with some of our midfielders being encouraged to contribute a few goals), which in turn...
Is the hatred of Lineker due to his (undeniably exorbitant) salary, or his politics?
If a prominent BBC presenter was on the same salary, but regularly Tweeted pro-Brexit and anti-immigrant or anti-Greta Thunberg views instead, I bet there wouldn't be the same rejoicing or sneering.
Hypocrisy...
Given GP's comments about improving the players we have, and getting other players to contribute more goals, I have acquired doubts, over the last couple of months, about how hard or how seriously we are really trying.
Can't help suspecting that the club has adopted a "make do with what we've...
Me too - thrilled when we signed Lallana and Veltman, Dunk signed a new contract and White was not sold to Leeds, and so I was quietly confident of aiming for mid-table, on the basis that we had the time and (freed-up) cash to focus on signing a decent striker.
Now, with our rumoured striker...
Missed the 1979 Arsenal game, because I was watching The Stranglers (supporting The Who) at Wembley Stadium.
Was dying to know the score, and then 3 songs in, Stranglers' vocalist Hugh Cornwell speaks his first words of their set:
"Any Brighton fans here?" A few cheers, before he deadpans...
As most of the other strikers we've been associated with have signed for other clubs, and waiting on a possible deal for Brewster is a huge risk (given that several other clubs seem to be interested, and Liverpool don't seem to be in any hurry to loan or sell him), I think this a good...
