4 things for me, if we have those then I think the rest comes
1. The ability to pass the ball to someone wearing the same colour shirt (Ryan exc)
2. Pace throughout the team (Dunk and Duffy reprieved)
3. The ability to be able to recognise when and where to make runs and for others to be aware...
If 'at this level' means PL then the only ones proven are either already in a job (so they won't come) or are duds (so we don't want them). Leaves us in a bit of a quandary doesn't it?
Whoever we get will be a risk, no more or less than keeping CH
Embarrassing, why? They might interview him and decide they don't want him anyway.
I very much doubt they thought 'it's Hughton or Potter'. TB et al decided that CH wasn't the man for the job but letting him go wouldn't have been contingent on them getting Potter. They will have a decent list...
But that's true of pretty well any managerial appointment
We just have to believe the recruiters do their due diligence thoroughly and get the best they can. Whoever it is will be a leap of faith
Well said. Some of these 'arguments' use such extreme examples. Attacking appears to be used in the context of trying to lay seige to the opposition goal, expansive is the current word of the moment too. Teams that try to attack the big boys get 'ripped to shreds' suggesting we should never...
That's where I'm at. None of the other names I've seen are that inspiring with the exception of Arteta and there's no chance of that happening.
But, having read that Guardian article that was posted on here yesterday I got the impression that it would take a huge effort to prize him out of Swansea
Loads of daft names on that poll
Given that I am not part of the interview team then I have no idea ... I'll leave it to them to decide and will probably be happy with whoever they chose
Not delighted but glad that we are making the change. Making the right appointment is going to be really tough. It will be a relative unknown and a big gamble but hats off to TB for making the tough call.
Thanks to CH for taking us top this level
Good stuff and agree with most of that. Most definitely we need pace. If we're keeping CH then chances are we will continue to focus on the defensive side of the game and so we'll need to develop a decent counter attacking game and not rely on set pieces
Good read, thanks.
I'm with you on CH, if he's going to stay he not only needs to be given ammunition but he needs to use it (and be encouraged to use it) properly. I'm not too optimistic but will be hopeful
Have they spent vastly more than us? Once you take Defoe out of the equation their wages aren't particularly different either
They might have only finished 3 places above us but they were never troubled by relegation and played a brand of football that we can only dream of
Gobby shite on train was getting on my tits. Then he shows up in queue next to me for WSL which irritated me further. As he and his mate go to scan ticket it turns out he hasn't got one and in a flash he's under turnstile and away. Happily stewards got him
There was no disgrace in relegation, as it wouldn't be for pretty well most clubs coming up (including ourselves). He then used his budget wisely and got them back up. They then survived with room to spare and the following season they kicked on and finished 7th. If that isn't a record of...
Didn't Abraham do the same when he should have conceded the penalty?
All this holding the head/face stuff has really been on the increase and really does piss me off. Pity a ref can't apply a retrospective yellow up to 60 seconds later when the player makes a miraculous recovery
You really can't put any quantitative argument around 'progress'. League position? Points gained? Goals for/against? They really are all much of a muchness and I'm sure to any neutral we've just stood still or maybe gone backwards. Picking a slightly improved away record or slightly better...
