It's not that he wouldn't be a decent addition but going by our past history we rarely spend anything over £20m.
Yes, there will be a first time but I agree with the other comment that I would be surprised if we spent so much ourselves on 1 player. They well prove me wrong though.
I see a few of the Arsenal fans are already claiming they 'mugged' us for so little a transfer fee.
Blimey he only played 10 mins - yes he did ok but 'mugged'? I thought the fee was ok in the circumstances.
Would be happy if we got him, but I'd just be surprised if we spent so much on 1 player. It's just not our style. But maybe we will be surprised and the club will push the boat out?
It will be interesting though in future seasons how they get on with FFP as I agree they are playing the 'game' by spreading the cost of purchases over a few years to get around this, but it does mean that they have effectively already spent large sums that will need to be declared over the next...
It's the way we stay sustainable. Sadly every player has their value, and we will always be vulnerable to the vultures like Chelsea out there, who play the system and employ expensive lawyers to work around FFP.
Enjoy them while they are here, and hopefully the conveyor belt of talent will...
