Just out of interest, do you think the constitutional arrangements in your adopted home work better? They seem to be more fragmented than almost any other country in Europe. Maybe you just like living in countries that have a Monarchy!

Whether or not they choose to boo, monarchy has always been a divisive issue, the only thing we fought a civil war over. It has never had 100% support, and today is no different.

That seems to make an enormous assumption that nationalism = Brexit. Not for me it doesn’t. I am proudly English, British and European. They are not mutually exclusive.
Although go to an England rugby international at Twickenham and our anthem is sung properly and with gusto. Took a Brazilian friend along and they noticed the clear difference between how it’s sung and perceived at rugby compared to football.
Don‘t forget that historians would say Brighton is only what it is as a town/city because of its royal past. Doesn’t mean you have to like that fact but the royal family has shaped its very existence and raison d’être, more so than almost anywhere else in the country.
