    [Misc] January blues

Winter sun. I deliberately do not spend a penny on holidays between March and October. I find the second half of November as bad, if not worse, as January.

[Football] Former league clubs you would like to see back in the league.

Chester. League cup semi finalists in their former guise in the 70s and would take great pleasure in knocking their near neighbours down a peg or two in a Netflix episode.

    [Travel] Tenerife

The latter 😂. Typical January Brit when it was -5 degrees a week or so ago, flooded roads to the airportand it’s now +25 degrees. Though windy, only complaint so far from other half. ‘it’s a bit too hot’.

Out in Cost Adeje at the moment. Can’t hire a car as only fit to drive on flooded and icy roads.

[Football] The Non-League Football Thread- 2023/24 Edition

Planned on going to Broadbridge Heath v Three Bridges which fell to a lunch time P-P. Instead went to a West Sussex Football League cup match where there was a lot of honest endeavour on a barely playable pitch.

[Albion] FA cup 4th round, Sheffield united

I paid £110 (super off peak return) for train ticket for this match. Ruddy expensive. The service is that rubbish got £55 back when claiming for delays

    [News] Post Office Scandal -

Goodness help anyone who is found to have orchestrated activity across the helpline, investigations etc to cover this up, they’ll be off to Tower Green. The CEO is really the only one capable of having a view of ’the system’ - whether they have that capability is another thing or ’the system’...

    [News] Post Office Scandal -

Pretty clear that the PO workforce were all in their little silos within a very prescriptive culture. Seems endemic and a special measures case.

    [Football] Fletcher Holman

The big noticeable positive was the ease in which our squad fit in to a successful system as opposed to WHU whose system depleted with some absences.

    [Albion] Train issues for tonight

I wouldn’t bother protesting. You won’t get the loyalty points. Similar happened to me. I wasn’t happy at the time but can understand the club’s policy on this one. This policy is applied without any discretion as I found out earlier in the season. Brutally consistent.

[Football] The Non-League Football Thread- 2023/24 Edition

Sounds exciting thing to do. What takes my fancy is ground hopping within the London and South East rail network and being less car dependent. You can venture as far as Kings Lynn, Worcester, Weymouth, Harwich etc with a network card discount. I’m finding train prices when venturing outside...

[Albion] Player ratings vs Spurs (h)

Gross a 9. The blokes running on empty, puts in a shift and keeps injury free.

[Albion] “ Brighton are no Premier League nice guys …” Telegraph article tonight

LOL…..By half-time, poor Pierre-Emile Højbjerg had the air of a game septuagenarian struggling to keep up with his tearaway grandkids.

[Albion] If you are a current Albion season ticket holder, are you planning on renewing for next season?

Can see me reducing away games but home ST renewal is safe for next season. I can possibly see myself moving to a more selective match by match basis in the future, due to changing personal circumstances, but not yet.

    [Albion] that De Zerbi interview

He’s an ambitious manager and I’m sure he would love to ply his trade with a squad full of 28 year olds at their peak. That’s what good probably looks like for him but ‘Brighton are not a big team’. Surely not if he’ll get that big team call but when. Enjoy while it lasts.

[Football] FC Barcelona statement on the Super League

Give me the pyramid over the closed shop any day though, sadly, the bottomless money pit closed shop will eventually win. They’ve cut their teeth in golf.
