I’m stunned that people think we’d recall Buononatte in January.
It would either take a catastrophic injury crisis to all of our forward players for it to happen.
i.e - Pedro, Rutter, Enciso, Gruda all to be medium/long term injured.
Or a catastrophic downturn in his form in the next two...
I saw you mention the Hand in Hand - brilliant little pub, but it is very, very small. The crowd generally spills onto the street outside. Just be mindful that you may not have a seat if you are going there. Incredible range of beers though!
I think there’s probably a few games from 17-18 and 18-19 seasons where Ryan had very good performances that the opposition may well have seen as points-winning.
Games from 17-18 that spring to mind - Arsenal home, Tottenham home, Stoke away for the penalty save.
18-19 - those three...
One thing that I think has happened is that he no longer has the surprise element from when he burst onto the scene. His initial run of games when he came into the side it genuinely looked like defenders couldn’t physically deal with him - whether that was because of his natural strength or...
Pretty positive from you given you’ve just named arguably 2 of our best players!
Pedro is less of a worry as Rutter has stepped up and we are stacked attacking wise, but no other midfielder has put in a Baleba level performance yet. He’s really needed against a midfield like Newcastle’s.
I thought the same, but as @kevo says, injuries played a part.
Our ‘direct speed upfield’ would’ve been Mitoma, Pedro, Enciso, Pervis and March, all to varying degrees. Without them in the team, it’s hardly a surprise we spent longer trying to pass our way to a final moment.
That said...
The idea that the old team would win a physical battle doesn’t add up either.
Unless by physical battle people mean tackling like thugs and not getting sent off?
Modern players are 90-95% muscle, ridiculous levels of core strength and insanely balanced. They wouldn’t lose a shoulder to...
Still think it’s ridiculous the club don’t make that tier 2 bracket more narrow for these lower allocation games.
Crazy that someone on 336 is competing with someone on 242 for a ticket. There’s a big gap in ‘loyalty’ in terms of how many away games and home cup ties someone’s been to there.
Any idea why Absolute Radio dropped him? I know he’s not everyone’s cup of tea and I find Emily grating from time to time, but I always thought that show was Absolute’s best offering.
So… we essentially signed another winger?🤣
His brief stints in defence so far match up with what you’ve said. It’ll be interesting to see if he fares any differently against teams who will sit deeper and let us have the ball. You’d suspect he’ll look much better as an overlapping fullback than...
