I thought the first ferry was at 9.30, arriving 14.45 local (we are going in September)

[Travel] Best way to Bayeux from London…

At the risk of turning this into Tripadvisor - given the Normandy expertise on this site would be good to see if there are any comments on our proposed itinerary. Thanks Day 1 - Newhaven to Dieppe on the morning sailing - stay over in Dieppe Day 2 - Drive to Honfleur - stay over one night Day 3...

I’m thinking watch the exit poll and half an hour or so of Tory doom and gloom then sleep till about 1.30 and return to the sofa in time to watch the majority of the results come in through the rest of the night. Not sure I’ll survive if I try and stay awake through all of it.

Thanks, helpful. From Burgess Hill as well it seems a no brainier particularly as in no rush to get to Bayeux.

[Travel] Best way to Bayeux from London…

Interesting - we are planning a similar trip in September. Current plan is Newhaven Dieppe, drive to Caen and then do the D Day beaches and Bayeux, using the latter as a base before heading down to Mount Saint Michel and then back to Dieppe possibly via Rouen.

[Misc] Who taps us on the shoulder and says "time you stopped driving old fruit"?

Perhaps because it's not just an eyesight issue.

[Misc] Who taps us on the shoulder and says "time you stopped driving old fruit"?

After a year of cajoling I've finally persuaded my 88 year old dad to hang up his keys. In truth he hasn't driven more than a few miles since the pandemic but emotionally it is a big moment for someone who spent much of working life driving. The medical self certification is ridiculous - my dad...

I've just relinquished my spot on the Mid Sussex count team - I just want to be at home watching it all from the comfort of my sofa (and having the freedom to doze a bit of required).

    [Misc] Little wins in life…

We did that for our trip to Cambodia and Laos earlier this year. Lots of research and prep but immensely satisfying. And I still find it incredible that I can turn up at an airport in say Laos and they have my ticket that I booked months before from my computer in Mid Sussex. I'm easily impressed.

    [Misc] Ken Valder

As somebody very reliant on the RSCH for various aspects of my health this makes worrying reading. I can’t imagine how dreadful an experience this has been for the family. Interestingly my wife waited 21 days bery recently for a GP appointment as she was concerned about ulcers and infection in...

[Politics] Does it matter where constituency candidates come from?

In Burgess Hill yes, but maybe not in Hassocks and Hurst 😁

[Politics] Does it matter where constituency candidates come from?

I think it does matter, but it’s one of a number of factors with any candidate. Here in Mid Sussex we have Dave Rowntree parachuted into the constituency as a C list celeb due to being the drummer with Blur running for Labour. He is up against Alison Bennett LD who has lived locally and served...

    [Politics] General Election 2024 - 4th July

At a guess I think it is just the housing to the right of valebridge road as you approach the Rocky Lane viaduct which slips into East Sussex and Lewes DC that might be in the Mims Badlands. Meantime the latest polls show Mid Sussex heading firmly to a LD victory, what a turnaround.
