[Albion] FA Cup v Stoke early thoughts

Hmm. I never trust a rosé man. Even in a Provençal context.

[Albion] FA Cup v Stoke early thoughts

Stoke is one ground I’ve never been to before. Sorry if this has been asked already but any tips for parking within, say, 20 mins walk from the ground? And apart from the pottery museums, pencilled in for Sunday, any recommendations for cultural distractions? Thanks.

It was the reassuring "Evenin' All" and "Goodnight All". On a similar theme, Z Cars, surely?

Oh, but you see, I quite like this song. Admittedly, I did attend Bundesliga games regularly for nearly 15 years and got quite used to this sort of thing. It’s a 'club hymn' as they say over there, and it’s certain that someone from Reading's marketing people will have experienced the same and...

[Albion] FA Cup v Stoke early thoughts

I’d like a strong side to start, with plenty of changes at half time if we’re 2 goals up. Too often this season we’ve put out a suboptimal team then had to bring on stronger replacements in the second half to chase the result. Would much prefer the other way round. One exception — I think Pedro...

[Albion] What’s the worst away day in the 92?

For anyone who’s ever been to Oldham and stood on the open terrace on a wintry afternoon, being blasted by the icy Pennine wind, the conversation stops there.

[Albion] Valentín Barco **Season Loan To Sevilla 23/08/24**

It’s not a question of 'hearing' it. It’s been widely discussed in the media, on podcasts etc. Which isn’t to say it will happen but a number of pundits seem to think a move to Newcastle would suit him well, and with their injuries, would suit Newcastle well too. Seems like a Howe sort of player.

    [News] New Year honours 2024

Wetherspoons are significantly cheaper than any other pub I know. As for the ambience, I’ve been in a tiny fraction of the nearly 1,000 Wetherspoons pubs in the UK. I fairly regularly go into two (once a month or so). Maybe I’ve struck lucky but I’ve never had a bad experience. They’re...

    [News] New Year honours 2024

Very good deals for the consumer. Last time I was in my local Wetherspoons they were selling a number of ales at under £3 a pint. I don’t accept for a moment that they stop other pubs from selling good beer. In fact they help to promote cask ale which has a beneficial knock-on effect. There are...

They never sell out of date beer (which would be illegal). They originally made their fortune by buying up short-dated beer and selling it cheaply and quickly, though according to CAMRA that’s no longer their business model, they just use their buying clout to drive very good deals.

[Albion] The Spurs fans - needy?

Well done to the North Stand last night. Where I sit, I hear the away fans more than the home usually. I admit that Spurs were loud at the start but went strangely quiet after 11 minutes or so. But I could hear the NS loud and clear through the match which TBH, is not often the case. Well done...

    [Albion] Conor Gallagher ?

As a homegrown player, he can be sold for 'pure profit' which helps them buy someone else and helps keep the FFP busybodies away from the club. It;s why they've got rid of so many other academy products over the past year, and why Colwill was being touted last summer.

[Albion] FA Cup v Stoke early thoughts

I'd like us to play a strongish side, and I'd like us to have a good go in the FA Cup. I still hanker after the days when the cup meant a lot.

[Football] Southampton v Plymouth kick off 6pm

You can't please all of the people all of the time. It will be inconvenient for some fans going to the match, yes. OTOH, many workplaces will wind down early on a holiday weekend. I suspect there are also people who are glad it's on early so that kids can go, and will be over early enough to...

    [Albion] bt broadband question

When we bought our house the previous owners already had it installed so it wasn't an issue for us. The cable runs up the outside wall, then through the wall to the office. Seems all quite neat and tidy. We have an additional two WiFi extenders. I'm never sure just how much difference they make.

[Albion] The "Official" Albion Fan Advisory Board thread

That’s exactly what I think about people who think it’s vital that we conceal the lyrics. New and occasional fans, plus oldies like me with memory problems, would like the words to be shown. Not something I’d ever consider a big issue mind, but if someone thinks it important enough to try to ban...
