For a bit of fun I’ve just tried to open a Ruble account on my Revolut account but surprisingly it’s one of the few currencies they don’t offer ( their systems probably don’t have the capacity to keep up with it!)
I agree - Russia is a melting pot of different ethnicities who, if central government starts to breakdown, may sense an opportunity to pursue independence. How that might play out is anyone’s guess. Putin has previously had to fight two wars in Chechnya and still can’t totally suppress it.
It will be tough moving away from a part of Brighton that you’ve known and loved most of your life. You’re doing the right thing in planning your future now rather than waiting for the inevitable to happen, but it seems that you’re going to have to compromise somewhere along the line. Moving...
I enjoyed the game. Haywards Heath played well, particularly in the first half. It didn’t look like they are 3 divisions below Whitehawk, but the home side grew stronger as the game progressed.
Thanks for helping with my christmas present list - I’ve read a couple of them, but not all. Currently reading Midnight in Moscow by John Sullivan, the US Ambassador in Moscow in the years leading up to and including the start of the invasion (sorry SMO). I’m not very far into it but it gives an...

Re Trump, sorry if it’s been mentioned before but I was reminded today about Trump’s alleged phone call to Zelensky in 2019 to dig up dirt on Hunter Biden in return for continued US military support. Can’t remember whether the allegations were proven but I wonder how much, if at all, that might...
Yes, where do countries like Spain, Italy and others sit in the league table of support for Ukraine? Unless they ramp up their support vocally and practically it simply adds weight to Trump’s view that Europe /Nato isn’t pulling its weight
I was there too and you’ve given a good summary of the match. Saltdean deserved to win, but when you’re down at the bottom you don’t always get the rub of the green.
On one hand it’s good to see another distraction for Putin to deal with, but on the other hand it’s a worrying indication of how Russia might disintegrate into numerous other violent disputes when Putin is eventually overthrown.
Steve Rosenberg also reported similar this morning. His summary of today’s Russian newspapers, which are obviously subject to heavy censorship/ control, nonetheless contained a lot of negative references to inflation, referenced the “war” (not SMO) and one paper had a cut out and keep prayer...
