i dont know. there's probably no palatable answer, something will have to change with our economics, expectations and outlook for retirement. but i'm pretty sure though depending upon forever immigration wont work out long term, and along the way it creates inherent division.
i find it odd how this has become so accepted. the implication being migrants purpose is as a conveyor belt of cheap or willing labour to serve us in old age.
wouldn't it be good idea to consider changing things so we didn't need to do that?
i suppose when there are so many complaints about the outcome of elections, widely held views that the electorate are wrong in their choices, it's fair to say there is a crisis with democracy.
certainly shouldn't be, they get it wrong sometimes, but they should be applying the laws.
handball rule was reasonably OK until they started trying to "improve" it and ended up making it worse. then add in VAR so someone miles away interprets a still differently to live action.
given he lies so much, fails to deliver on so much more, why assume this area is something he'll successfully follow through on? it's not in his power as President, it's up to the legislators in Senate and House. if indeed they want to overturn their entire structure of democracy, restructure...
use an ad blocker, and use following. you mostly* only see your chosen tweeters, get some suggestions on trending subjects you chose to look at.
*those you follow will retweet stuff, either it's interesting for you or if not stop following them.
people have been shocked by the evolution of LLMs and generative AI, and assume next level AGI is around the corner, unaware of the huge computational power needed for training and the experts dont know how to get from here to AGI. developers i work with, including in machine learning, are...
taxing homes on basis of house price rise wont build a single property, it'll just raise a slush fund for other purposes, while wrecking finances of many (honestly, asking pensioners to go into debt after a life of saving?). raising money isn't the problem, simply allow councils to fund...
this is an area full of misleading information. there are said to be enough acreage/plots with planning for so many million homes, not seperating outline and full planning, or whether land will be used for residental or commercial development. the house builders, Barratt, Wimpey, Perismmon...
amid news of US elections, something overlooked by many is the effect on crypto. market has already signalled predicated approval, the real change though is when US reigns in SEC or deregulates the security classification, real revenue can be extracted and many tokens will soar. eye on Uniswap...
you have that wrong. in some states in US they have de-criminalised shoplifting, steal under a certain amount there's no prosecution. here, there seems to have been similar approach, informally, leading to shop lifting increase. i dont recall in past local shops requiring security, and why...
similar direction didnt help Conservative here either. it's all about perceptions, Trump focus on the recent negatives (inflation and interest rates were high), while the Harris didn't highlight the turnaround.
sure, if the Senate and House enable him to change the constitution and supreme justices chose to ignore law. then it's on them really. the whole US system is setup to prevent a President from having much direct power, to avoid exactly this sort of scenario.
look his economic policy is...
announced earnings, or rather the lack of them: $1m revenue, $19m loses in Q3.
saw a remark this is about same revenue as a typical McDonalds franchise :lolol:
