    [Politics] Labour Party meltdown incoming.......

or, 3) lazy journo's dont look into much these days, until someone starts making a fuss. then they'll be all over it like proverbial flys. it's odd this story flares up now, with only references in the past few days, now Robert Peston on it... just as we have Labour party's conference.

[Albion] You're the ref: Morgan Gibbs-White

dont understand all those (on twitter) saying it's never a red card. it wasn't given a red card! cynical tackle deserving a yellow. not first time, seems a lot of people think that if a second yellow doesn't warrant a sending off, it shouldn't be given.

[Misc] The 'Class System' Exclusively British?

its utter bollocks. all societies have strata, often along types of work, region, wealth, race, even gender. the British class system was originally based on land ownership and family heritage, product of fuedalism. pretty common across all europe since mediveal times. other regions have it...

    [Politics] The Labour Government

tricky, incentivise lower energy prices when countries have been trying to reduce demand for energy. though yes, what Brown should have done was offer all registered pensioners a discount direct to energy company. could have limtited to those on some other benefit, permiting more for those...

    [Politics] The Labour Government

fuss over Starmer getting some comp tickets is silly, it really doesnt matter. outdone in silliness by the sublime whataboutery and epic pedantry on statistics along the way. well done everyone.

[Albion] Baleba - Bissouma - Caicedo... Out of the three, who do you think will prove to be the greatest player over time?

if he sorts the discipline, Bissouma. then again probably not going to and peaked. Caicedo has faded and i dont think will ever regain the youthful sass, so Baleba wins by default.

    [News] Middle East conflict

it would appear so. the premise this disrupts anything is flawed, it's physical maiming that doesn't necessarily achieve anything. i reckon Ukraine on Russia is a go for you, what about the rest; is Russia on Ukraine acceptable?

    [Politics] Inheritance Tax

you've not heard of Self Assessment? as annoying as it is to have to use for small amounts, it's a pretty simple system. declare the £5k from Aunt Maude, pay the 20% tax, sorted. and thats the other point, the recipient pays so the allowances disappear, overall take is far larger. make some...

    [Politics] The Labour Government

inflation flat at a low 2 target, GDP up, interest rates will go down (especially now Fed has dropped), unemployment bubbling around generational low of 4%. that's not dire.

    [News] Middle East conflict

my answer is simple, they are all unacceptable. now you give it a go.

    [Politics] The Labour Government

i thought this at first. then i realised they are still in opposition mode. they cant stop talking about how bad everything is, rather than what they'll do about it.

    [Politics] Inheritance Tax

one of the great ballaches and injustices of IHT is you cant complete probate until you paid the tax. months of fun with frozen accounts, locked up assets while you sort it all out then borrow money to pay off the sum. get rid of IHT and probate becomes a much simpler admin task.

    [Politics] Inheritance Tax

count as income, or capital gains at 0 cost base. uses existing process so minimal change to tax, keeps it simple.
