[Albion] Brighton & Hove Albion vs Ipswich Town *** Official Match Thread ***

Well, we got a better result than I thought we'd get today. Thought Mitoma and Minteh were both off the pace. But Baleba and Ayari both did okay.

[Misc] Have you put the heating on yet? (2024/25 edition)

Yes, need the full surface area to emit heat efficiently.

[Misc] Have you put the heating on yet? (2024/25 edition)

The boiler had a clean bill of health, and was back doing it's thing this chilly morning. Flow temperature is set at 57C (unless outside temperature goes below 0C, then I'll whack it up to 60C) for those that are interested; I have a solar diverter on the immersion heater so I have no concerns...

Just posted a 1:39:40 at the Surrey Half. This one was a real mental challenge as my thigh tightened up between miles 5 and 6 meaning I spent the rest of the race trying to ignore it and think loose thoughts.

[Misc] Have you put the heating on yet? (2024/25 edition)

The central heating popped on briefly this morning. Good to see it still works ahead of the boiler service this week.

[Football] Sutton United Ladies put their head above the parapet

We actually discriminate against different categories of people for all sorts of reasons without batting an eyelid, and usually for entirely sensible reasons. Women's sport has traditionally discriminated on the basis of 'sex', but as this word has linguistically almost become interchangeable...

[Football] Sutton United Ladies put their head above the parapet

There is nothing contentious about trans males taking part in male sport as they have no physical advantage having not gone through male puberty, which is why it doesn't get discussed. The only potential issue is one of safety, but I'm sure your son is well aware of that, comfortable with it...

I'm glad we agree. I am being pedantic precisely because that term can be twisted and misconstrued, particularly by people who take things said to them literally or see everything in black and white terms. It is not a phrase I'd want to hear trotted out in front of children for instance...

[Football] Sutton United Ladies put their head above the parapet

I think you have misunderstood what I have said. Whether someone has a mental illness, a difference in sex development (DSD), or just feels uncomfortable in their own skin or whatever else, it makes no difference to their body being their own. You simply cannot be 'born into the wrong body'...

[Football] Sutton United Ladies put their head above the parapet

Yes, 'being born into the wrong body' is an idea, not a reality - to change your body at any level that isn't just cosmetic* would involve re-writing your DNA, at which point you are someone else. Yes, gender dysphoria is a very real condition. Medically transitioning because of it is...

Apologies HWT, I probably should have elaborated, but thought this particular story was fairly well known. One of the complaints made about Lia Thomas when she was competing in the women's category was that she was a fully intact male changing in the female changing rooms.

[Football] Sutton United Ladies put their head above the parapet

It is true that people have these mental health issues, but 'being born into the wrong body' is an idea not a reality. You are absolutely correct that these people deserve unbiased and non-judgemental psychological support, and medical support if absolutely necessary.

We don't, a 6' male is playing in goal for Sutton United. By comparison, England goal keeper, Mary Earps, is 5' 8", and Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper, Sophie Baggaley, is 5'6".
