Agree. Changes to IHT rules that kick in on death and the value of the final estate can be easily implemented and the tax easily collected. Trying to strangle the rules on lifetime gifts etc is almost impossible.
Pension pots aren’t (currently) included in your estate for IHT purposes. Maybe that’s the next change 🤷♂️
If the rules change significantly, the economy will get a huge boost as ‘spending it’ will become the only way to avoid the tax. I can cope with that 🤣
Yes, but virtually impossible to control/check, whereas nailing the final estate is really simple as you can’t get probate until IHT has been confirmed and settled

When I was called it clashed with something at work I couldn’t miss - simply told them (think it was on a form). Got a reply asking when I was available and was reallocated a date that worked. All very simple (assuming you haven’t already ducked it)
