[Drinking] Most wonderful pub outside Sussex, and why?

Not strictly a pub, but the best place I know for a fresh pint, and in staggering distance from home, along a disused railway line. The Hogs Back Brewery - Brewery Tap Room and Beer Garden https://hogsback.co.uk/pages/brewery-tap-and-beer-garden

[Other Sport] Who was your favourite Kent Waltham era all-in wrestler?

@Ernest has written a couple of self published books on Wrestling in the late 70’s. Unfortunately he left NSC 3 years ago, but is still going strong on Twitter.

    [Food] Restaurant thread 2023

When I bought my first house in Chesley Close in Durrington in 1980 our neighbours were Manuel and Susan Quirosa. They had two young sons, Manolito & Luis. They went on to open the Andalucia Restaurant in Ferring, where I believe Luis is now the head chef. How time flies.

    [Football] Etonian scholar joins Anderlecht

I agree that it certainly isn’t for everyone, and I would’ve hated it, but he appears to be incredibly academic. Learnt Portuguese, Mandarin and Arabic by the age of 10.

    [Football] Etonian scholar joins Anderlecht

He's a King's Scholar, so got there on merit with only 14 places awarded each year. Out of curiosity I just had a look at past Scholarship examination papers that are open to 13 year olds. That is some achievement.

    [News] Congressional hearing on UFOs

Precisely. According to the "Standard Model" of cosmology, the Universe is 68% dark energy, 27% dark matter, 5% normal matter. We have a lot to learn.

    [News] Congressional hearing on UFOs

To believe that, in the last 350 years, we now understand all the laws of physics relating to our 14 - 28 billion year old universe is stretching it a bit.

    [News] Congressional hearing on UFOs

There is so much we just don't know, Black Holes for instance; "As for what exists on the other side of the singularity, some have speculated that this is a gateway to far-flung parts of our Universe or even other universes. The truth is that a singularity in a theory marks the breakdown of...

60% of the World's carbon emissions are produced by China, USA, India, Russia and Japan. The UK produces 1%, so no matter how well intentioned and proactive we are, it's a pinprick in the Global problem. The five countries, above, need to take matters seriously to make the difference, but I...

[Politics] Is Woke a significant factor in any upcoming General Election?

I think that Reform UK will now attract the vote of the rabid Tory right wingers, giving Lab / Lib Dems a shoo in. The result of next GE is a forgone conclusion. From a personal point of view I wouldn’t trust any of them as they’re all a bunch of self serving bastards without a single Statesman...
