Behind the goal for that one with bruv who was on crutches already,I think aldershot took the backlash the next day, millwall away good friday then aldershot on the saturday
Then gillingham at home on the monday
Not necessarily the worst, but certainly the freakiest for me was Aldershot away in the cup the year we put 6 past them, 2000 or 2001 I think?
Long story short, but I happened to be in The Shots pub, full of Aldershot when it got attacked by Albion. Very weird being in a pub full of the opposition when being attacked by Albion. Fortunately there was a back exit to the pub which we found pdq.
Remember the 87/88 season and trips to Southend, gillingham, aldershot, brentford and Northampton got lively, especially the cup games !!
Me too. l can remember incidents at most of those grounds. Especially at the normally genteel Recreation Ground in Aldershot. at a game in the mid to late 80's. Provoked l believe by a few dozen squaddies who started aiming projectiles at us both inside and outside the stadium!
I seem to remember whilst watching the news in my native liverpool a game v cambridge was on the news where Brighton fans for whatever reason kept invading the pitch and running the length of it to get into the home end . Obviously the pies were rubbish in the away end as this seems to be the only thing that still causes a riot these days .
I think there was a couple of Brighton in the home end behind the goal. we were all penned in behind the other goal. A group of about 30 of our 'finest' were in the unfenced (home) seats to our right , there was a bit of handbags in the home end so they legged it up the wing to 'have a look'. I remember a bit of running back n forth after the match (I think it was 84)

not a brighton away game but a game involving brighton fans. Bognor v swansea in the fa cup first round at the vetch field in 1984.
It was the perfect storm.
A totally fenced-in away section behind the goal.
Low policing due to the miners strike. (initially about 3 policeman, ending with a van load plus a police dog).
A large group of brighton supporters from littlehampton.
Bognor's most notorious.
A van load of portsmouth's 657 crew supporting several mates who were playing for bognor.
No swansea fans involved.
It kicked off midway through the first half when the police attempted to eject a bognor fan. The police got attacked, and then the littlehampton boys started fighting the pompey boys, with bognor boys fighting anyone and it continued until the final whistle. It's the only time i've seen a police dog picked up and thrown.
It finished with 26 arrests, a 1-1 draw (geoff cooper scored for bognor) and the rocks winning the replay 3-1.
Terrible behaviour all round but remembered with a nostalgic fondness.
ABOUT 30 BRIGHTON IN THE HOME END
That would be the 3-4 game
cheaterfield away, cant remember when, we raided the open market for clothes before going to the game. got into their end and greeted the home supporters as they came through with a 'funnel shaped' kicking tunnel. in the holmsdale end with a sheet saying 'we f*cking hate palace' on it, which was revealed once it started to fill up and fisty cuffs ensued.

We're worse than Southampton, pompey and Leicester these days.
