F*cking hell this is a tough watch.... It's incomprehensible that Putin's errand boys are running the White house.

It is and we need to protest against it. The passive twit we have as PM needs to know we WILL not put up with it.

I’m currently at Raleigh-Durham airport in North Carolina, ahead of flying to New York in an hour’s time.

The news is playing on a TV nearby. There appears to be more concern about Gene Hackman’s dead dog than the absolute debacle that occurred in the White House earlier.

If only Badenough or (whisper it) Farage were in charge.
They would give Trump What For.
Definitely.

I don't think Zelensky did go "all in with his heart on his sleeve" though.

The fact is Zelensky had already given Trump considerable latitude today.

Trump, once again, had trotted out the lies with regard to who had funded Ukraine's fight and how.

He brought up £350bh again (lie), that the US had given more than Europe (lie) and Europe's financing was a loan (lie). Zelensky did make a small attempt to put hte reoord straight, but then just let it slide.

He sat there and accepted all other kind of utter bullshit, again just letting it go.

It was when Trump then started talking utter bollocks about how a security guarantee was easy to achieve, that Zelensky thought it a good time to explain how often that had failed in the past and how Putin isn't the cuddly and reliable chum that Trump was making out.

And, I think that would have all gone OK as well, iunil Vance got involved with some utterly disgraeful comments.

Going back to the hard-of-thinking you are defending, he also seems to think Ukraine should just give up their land, give up their stolen children, have to self-fund their reconstruction and consider themselves thankful. It's dim-witted nonsense.
Well said.

The thought that a leader of people losing their lives daily who look to him for strength, morale and leadership, that he’s got to beg for help to 2 people lying to his face repeatedly and the abhorrent insulting assertion that Putin has somehow not invaded Ukraine and is someone to be trusted it’s absolutely remarkable he stayed as composed as he did in the face of incredible provocation.

Er.....did you not mean WILL NOT?

Happy to join you in spirit in the morning, shaking my tiny fist at the clouds, if you think it might help.

War hasn't happened in England for 80 years. Regardless, I'm honest about it, I love this country but I wouldn't fight for it if I had the opportunity to get out. I'm sure the majority on here if they were asked exactly the same question and were being completely honest, would say the same thing.
Many of us on here are ex forces.

The most curious thing..

I don't recall as big an appeaser to fascist dictatorships as Trump since 1938 - and that didn't go well either.

Substitute Russia for Germany, Ukraine for Czech, Putin for Hitler, Sudeten Germans for Donetsk and Luhansk

"I can well understand the reasons why the Czech Government have felt unable to accept the terms which have been put before them in the German memorandum. Yet I believe after my talks with Herr Hitler that, if only time were allowed, it ought to be possible for the arrangements for transferring the territory that the Czech Government has agreed to give to Germany to be settled by agreement under conditions which would assure fair treatment to the population concerned.

You know already that I have done all that one man can do to compose this quarrel. After my visits to Germany I have realised vividly how Herr Hitler feels that he must champion other Germans, and his indignation that grievances have not been met before this. He told me privately, and last night he repeated publicly, that after this Sudeten German question is settled, that is the end of Germany’s territorial claims in Europe.”

just imagine Putin have an open discussion of his strategy plans, why they are having this televised globally. But as Trump says jokingly this must make great television

That's what Ukraine have been fighting for. But unfortunately they are not in NATO and they need the US to help them. And unfortunately the US have a different view. I would prefer it a different way but it is what it is. Zelensky and trump embarrassed themselves today, they were both arguing in front of the media.
Zelensky didn't embarass himself, he wasn't arguing, he could hardly get a word in. And at least the ones he did were the truth, funny, or both.

Embarrassing himself would have been going in on his hand and knees, accepting peace whatever that looks like at any price. Or coming away with no security guarantee and no precious rare metals left for Ukraines future generations and the rebuilding of their country. Or being a general **** like everyone else in the room. Or firing a twat question to someone he didn't know and had no authority about what they were wearing. Lots of people in the office embarrassed themselves, and their country.
Not Zelensky though
