Very poor from Ipswich. If they can't take advantage of Man Utd in complete disarray and down to ten men, then surely all hope has gone for them this season.
They are actually much worse than I thought they'd be. They spent a lot of cash and are going down with a whimper.

We have only beaten 1 so far...

Blimey, and here was me thinking I'd seen us win at both Portman Road and St Mary's this season.

Say what you like about Manchester United but when it comes to home games against their fellow relegation candidates, they have a great habit of making plucky comebacks to win all three points.

I'm wondering whether Newcastle will risk Isak on the weekend, what with him missing tonight's match at Anfield.

Given they haven't won a domestic trophy for 70 years their priority would have to be the League Cup Final, which is just 2 weeks after they play us.

Isak, Botman, Joelinton all missed tonight. Howe will want them to be in contention for Sunday but it would be a big risk to bring all 3 back. I'm already looking forward to Minteh up against his old club and leaving Dan Burn on his arse several times.

Generally satisfactory results for us all round. Pity Ipswich couldn't have turned over United though (just for shits and giggles).
I’m finding it increasingly amusing, (and amazing tbh) that Utd’s results are almost certainly irrelevant to our European aspirations

It's been an excellent set of midweek results for us. 6 points separates 3rd from 10th.

This is like the Leicester season but on a grand scale for the non 'big six'. It's a golden opportunity for multiple of us to get European football. Brentford or even (disappointingly) Palace have an outside chance too.

It's suddenly become very exciting. I really, really hope we can take advantage of the opportunity.

City are getting was few results again, although not as invincible, we'll find it very difficult to get anything up there.
Having said that I would have rather they won than Spurs yesterday. Even though they are 10 points behind, Spurs had won 3 on the bounce before last night and are getting players back from injury now. I’d say there was more chance of Spurs catching us, than us catching City with 11 games still to play

It's so congested (but great) isn't it. I don't expect us to get anything from city away or Palace away. Hopeful yes, but I'm thinking they are possibly our toughest games left? The rest, Liverpool included, I think we will get points from.

Our toughest league game at this stage of the season, will always be the next one, then the next one after that, then the next one after that. Rinse and repeat.
A proper roller coaster season
Spot on. We play so many of the teams around us -- many of the games are at home too -- that each one of those will impact upon not just our final position, but their position too. To riff on @Greg Bobkin, every game from hereon in will be season-defining.

They are becoming a very irrelevant team though
They aren’t going down and they won’t go up the table much further.
They are just a team that most teams can beat now.
Any other season and Ipswich should have been okay with narrowly losing to them…but this season it just highlights how crap both teams are.

I don't really understand why, given that so many 'shock' results happen in the PL, people are so shocked when these 'shock' results occur.

There's no point trying to apply knowledge to football predictions. For example, no-one (or very VERY few) would've expected a 0-7 scoreline against Forest and then, partly because of that, no-one (and probably DEFINITELY no-one this time) would've expected the next league game to be 3-0 against Todd's Twats.

There's very little point in predicting anything due to contingency. That said, two things seem pretty predictable: the rate of return on capital being bigger than growth rates will lead to increasing rates of inequality (r > g, in Piketty's terms); as we -- and, more particularly, the rich -- continue to pump carbon emissions into the atmosphere, temperatures will continue to rise accordingly further destabilising the climate.
