I guess he is the “as good as, or better than” Baleba replacement - after Baleba joins the big money line of Caicedo / Bissouma sales in the summer.

Bissouma, Macalister, Caecido and Baleba all came into the team with a few 'feeling their way' sub appearances.

That's all
To be fair Bissouma and Mac took a lot more than a few feeling their way appearances. Well over a seasons worth for both of them. Would say Gomez looks far more Prem ready than all the above with exception of Moises.

I really like him. He gathers the ball well and plays dangerous passes, he nearly set up 2 goals with his first 3 touches.

It would be harsh on anyone to miss out on Tuesday

Adapted very quickly and is a real asset and reliable.

Totally different player to how I had imagined he’d be based on the flair seen in the highlight reels. He’s very strong and not afraid to get stuck in
Indeed.

I think that he is a box to box midfielder.

I just think he was the best ‘water carrier’ to do all of Messi and Suarez’s running at Inter Miami because he had the touch, vision and shooting prowess to add to their attack. He could play at a level with them that no other Inter Miami players could because they were either to old or not good enough.

I can only see a version of Steven Gerrard when he plays. Time will tell if he can get anywhere near to the scouser’s levels of quality.

Caicedo didn't. His Premier League debut was his start at Arsenal that set up that brilliant run at the end of the 2021-22 season and into the 2022-23 campaign (and he started all those 14 PL games, from that Arsenal match until the 5-2 home win over Leicester, that produced 9 wins, 3 draws and only 2 defeats).

He did make a 30 minute cameo as a sub at Spurs in the FA Cup 4th round but that was more than 2 months before his PL debut.

Gomez is going to be (in a Harry Redknapp voice) a top, top player.
He is such an attacking threat and possesses a vision for early passes. So much so that every forward will want him playing behind them.

Eventually, our midfield will be Baleba and Gomez, with Hinshelwood at right back.
Things are slowly falling into place.

After our last three games Tony Bloom must be thinking his £200m was money well spent.
And when Ferdi gets fit he will seem like a new signing.

What a time to be alive.

If so, I fear it will only be fleetingly because we'll struggle to hold on to Baleba beyond this season. Fortunately that would still leave us with Hinshelwood, Ayari, Wieffer, O'Riley and Yalcoure as options to partner Gomez. Plus a huge payment for Baleba.

He should have had an assist today with his superb pass to Minteh who put the keeper and defender on their backsides before forgetting he had a right foot.
Was really good play all round (from us - terrible from them) until the finish.

When Ferdy popped up in the tunnel video from the Chelsea game, gushing about Mitoma's touch, I realised I had forgotten about him. And I was a big fan when he was playing for us.
Do we know when he is likely to come back?
