The response from Trump to Zelensky has been way, way beyond what any normal person would reasonably expect. He is trying to humiliate Zelensky. Why? Something else is going on.

The other thing I noticed is the complaint against the G7 using the phrase 'Russian aggression'. Again, very prickly, very sensitive. And doing everything possible to curry favour with Russia. Why?

He is trying to please* the aggressor and blame the victim.

Unforgivable.

Edit: I think I meant appease, but maybe both are valid, and both are entirely the wrong response.

At this rate it certainly isn't going to be a 'just peace'. Vance has just said publicly that Ukraine can't expect much because it has no credible way of winning. I think it's time for Zelensky to order his military to hit all Russia's oil terminals.

The more the peace process unfolds, the odder it becomes. He seems to be losing control of his emotions, and prone to posting ill-judged invective at the easy target - Ukraine - and not Russia.

I still find it difficult to celebrate when I see footage of dead Russian soldiers, because I know that they are some mother's sons. However, Mr Genocide and now the orange one appear to be working on my inability to eulogise over the slaughter of Russian innocents. At their present rate of progress, I'll soon contrive no pleasure from any war footage, apart from videos of Moscow being reduced to a sheet of glass.
In the meantime, please keep posting videos of Russian apartment blocks being reduced to rubble, and their armoured divisions, munition dumps, oil terminals and warships ablaze. Viewing them gives me more pleasure than the euphoria that I've experienced from numerous viewings of Mitoma's opener against Chelski & Hove Albion.

I think it's clear that he hates Zelensky for his lack of deference and doesn't give a toss about Ukraine or its people. I don't think he cares about Russians either, but he sees them as a great nation (like the USA) and obviously styles himself on Putin as a strong leader.

Ultimately, I think he'll be happy with an end to the war that he can claim credit for as the great deal maker, whilst seeing Zelensky/Ukraine humbled and broken with Putin and Russia restored to the world stage.

My best hope is that Ukraine tells him to politely go f*** himself and that the free world unite behind them to fight Russia to a standstill and finally a humiliating retreat.

I would imagine there is some deep seated jealousy going on. Trump could live for another 100 years and never achieve a tiny fraction of the true bravery, leadership, humility, intelligence, respect and integrity that Zelensky holds.

Zelensky will go down in history as a true hero of the 21st century.
